Solar States

I was trying to have my business run on renewables, a small music practice space. It was all yeah no problems until I paid the deposit. I tried to make it work but ultimately the roof they wanted to put it on which was not the roof I originally suggested had some issues that I didn’t have money to fix. Poor planning on my part, too hopeful, I’m not happy but it was partly my fault so I eat the deposit rather than waste more money. The real annoying part is they kept billing me a balance, I thought it was a mistake. They never sent anything itemized prior so I had to ask for one. It was bloated they said they had to send me a lot of emails and that cost big money. I reminded him the emails were his idea, David S, he was sending me roofers and trying to get me to agree to the rest of the project. He didn’t respond, I’m thinking thats an admission it was on him. Nope 6 months later I’m getting the same bill with additional late charges. They make a big show of how great a company they are but that is not at all my experience.

We used Solar States in 2019, and it was a great experience. ROI was spot on. We’re adding new panels and a battery after getting two EVs this year. They are a professional group, and we love their training program and hiring locally.

When I first made my inquiry in February of 2025, Solar States sent Jesse out who spent hours answering my questions prior to my decision to sign a contract, after having researched and met with two other solar installation companies. I had to ‘get under the hood’ so to speak and did hours of my own research about how solar works and how the Federal tax credit would work, with clarification from Jesse, before signing on with Solar States. I paid a little more perhaps, but I felt assured that I was getting quality and reliability with a company of high reputation and one that values its employees. Jesse was my one consistent contact from contract signing to the link into the PECO net metering system and he was there to help with setting up of my solar panel monitoring app, which both myself and my family were excited about, being data driven people. Since I increased my electrical panel capacity and converted to ‘almost’ all electric (there are no electric boilers), I will quickly repay the initial outlay for the system. Plus, I believe that that the panels will increase the value of my house at time of sale.

Solar States did an amazing job with our panel install. I can't wait to work with them again for our backup system!

Had solar panels installed at my house in South Philly. Saving money overall. Had a great experience with Solar States and would highly recommend them. They won't BS you, they're straightforward, the installation process is easy, and they're very communicative and helpful.

The entire process was smooth. Jesse and the team kept me fully informed from day one. The panels are beautiful and the app is satisfying to watch while its working. I love it.

From initial competent installation by the Solar States team in November 2017 we have been rewarded by our solar panel energy production. Our PECO monthly invoice has been $11.00 or less for 7 years (with one monthly exception when the house was loaned for a month and the AC was run 24 hours/day). In these 7 years only one (minor) problem was detected by Solar States and communicated to us with personal telephone instruction for correction.
