Solar Direct "Florida Solar Panel Installers"

All about the sales, not about the service. My inverter failed after a couple of years, because apparently that's when many of them fail. It has been FOUR MONTHS of excuses why they haven't gotten someone to install it. It's literally like an hour's work for someone trained in this. They are slow to return phone calls or emails as well. Get solar, but get it from someone who believes in service after the sale. These guys ain't it. Update: They have cancelled yet another appointment to replace my inverter because they want to focus on sales installations rather than servicing their existing customers. Think about that before you buy.

Solar Direct is all about the sales. Once you have a problem -- we had several with our inverter over the first couple of years and now we've had an inoperable battery for two months -- good luck finding anyone who will even answer a phone or text, let alone make a service call. I've had the system since 2021 and have never been able to get service without a struggle.

I had high hopes for Solar Direct when they installed a solar system at my Tampa home in February 2023. Unfortunately, their lack of responsiveness and failure to honor the spirit of their warranty have left me deeply dissatisfied, and I strongly caution others against choosing them for solar installations. When I contracted Solar Direct, they verbally assured me that my roof was in good condition, and the installation process was smooth, backed by a Solar Insure Component Monitoring and Warranty covering component defects and roof penetrations within 3 inches of the solar attachments. However, just two years later, as I prepared to sell my home and needed a roof replacement, Solar Direct’s customer service fell apart. Despite multiple attempts to contact their Sarasota office I received no response to my requests for assistance with solar panel removal and reinstallation. Given the short timeframe since their installation and their assurance of my roof’s condition, I expected at least a coordination of support to remove/reinstall. Instead, their silence forced me to hire a third-party solar contractor, risking additional costs and potential complications with the Solar Insure warranty’s validity. This lack of follow-through undermines the value of their service, especially for homeowners planning to sell, where transferable warranties are a key selling point. Solar Direct’s failure to engage reflects poorly on their commitment to customers post-installation. For a company with over 35 years of experience, and a prime reason I selected them for solar installation, this is unacceptable and suggests they prioritize initial sales over long-term support. I urge potential customers to look elsewhere for a solar provider that stands by their work and responds promptly to critical needs. Save yourself the frustration and choose a company that values accountability.

We bought our Solar panels with Solar Direct on Sept 2022, for $45k. Since April 2025, we being trying to contact this company to have the system repaired (due to problems with the inverter), and nobody will answer a call or return a calls (as their voicemail systems said). Also, I file a "repair" request on their website, and nothing. Last, I have file a complaint with BBB, and hoping for the best. P.S. I called the company the produce the inverter "SolarEdge" and they will not speak to me, they want me to contact the installer Solar Direct. Can anybody guide me what else can I do?

I have been trying to call this company since April 2025. My solar panels are not working and the only answer I got from the loan bank Godleap is that there is not appointment until September. I know this thru a representative of my loan bank because this solar company do not answer the phone at all. What a way to lie to me and take my money every month for a service I don’t have. I used to pay no more than 100 dollar in my electric bill. Now I am paying 200 to close to 400 dollars. This was a huge mistake. Do not put this in your roof and do not let family and friends impact your decision about it. That happen to me. Do not put this in your roof and avoid this company at all cost .

I have installed 15.3kw solar system which consisted of 45 340w TallMax panels. From the time of the order throughout installation the response was great from SolarDirect. I am a pest of a customer and have lots of questions and request frequent status. With a Tier 2 system it adds another level of complexity with insurance and agreement with the utility. Was provided a clear timeline and was able to keep in touch throughout the process. I even had to upgrade my main service panel to handle a line side tap. The installers were great and were not bothered by me being on the roof to ask questions and take progress pictures. This gave me a better understanding on what was being done and how everything tied in. This was even accomplished in one day and tested before they left. They answered everything and showed me the inverters and tied to main service panel. Since the agreement was in place prior to installation I only had to wait a couple business days for the utility to install my meter. When the system turned on one of the inverters crashed after about 50 minutes. Their service team took care of getting a replacement shipped and installed quickly. System has been performing really well and glad j took the plunge into solar.

This is an excellent company. They installed my system 6 years ago, and since then they have been giving me first class customer support. Their staff is super professional, courteous and friendly. I totally recommend Solar Direct to install solar systems.
