Fat Tire Cycles - Montaño

Goat head spurs are not a thing in Pennsylvania. We carry a patch kit on GP, not because we expect to use it any day. Our plan to leave the van parked and get about by bicycle for Balloon Fiesta lasted less than 3 miles with 2 flat fronts. My rear was down before we we got back to the van. Clearly, local professional advice was in order, and we found it. I didn't have to explain. Mike offered solutions in a range of prices, weights, and rolling resistance. Adam called later with thoughts that gave us a better result than my original choice and saved us money this week. The one tire that didn't puncture is our brand and model for the future, but they didn't have a match in stock. Service was personal, personable, perspicatious, prompt, and fairly priced. Walk in drop off at 3, pickup next morning, and we are back on the path.

Back in June 2025 I ended up at fat tire for what I thought was a blown tube on my foldup bicycle, while traveling through Albequerque I figured let me go to a pro shop instead of the big box store. When I found the store, and I asked them if they worked on fold up bikes, they said yes, I went out and got my bicycle and discovered when I brought it in that I had overinflated my tires, and I blew the rims up. I explained to them I used an automated pump and they said that if the air is too hot, it could blow up the rim. It was a Saturday afternoon getting close to closing time for them and they took the time to let me know what it was going to take to fix my fold up bicycle. I understood immediately that it was an old bike, and that it really wasn’t going to be worth it to fix it, I inquired about a fold up bike, and lo and behold. They had a beautiful bicycle just for me. it was the last one they had. I didn’t want an electric one I feel they especially took care of me . The bicycle mechanic and the gentleman that showed me the fold up bike were knowledgeable and patient I am over the moon about the service and the helpfulness of those guys. It took me this long to do a review and I forgot names , and it was all the staff were very helpful. They never even tried to sell me anything. They just were trying to help a traveler traveling from Florida to Arizona. Kudos to FAT TIRE. I might try and come through Albequerque to get a granny gear for the rear wheel and will no doubt have great time again.

I can't say enough good things about Fat Tire. I went in to browse and ended up talking to the owner Eric. He is very polite and knowledgeable. I rented a mountain bike which he took his time to set up to my needs and explained everything thoroughly. I ended up buying the rental bike which was another process Eric helped and was nothing but awesome during the whole process. I've also used the service department in which Mike is the man, very knowledgeable and helpful. This is the place to go the buy a bike, accessories, or just go in and talk bikes with the employees. I will always be a customer of fat tire!

This review is for the Foothills shop. In town for work and play, I rented a mountain bike for the day. I was blown away by the service and how well they set the bike up. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff was eager to answer my gazillion questions re the local foothill trails. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Scott and Erik gave me the best service I’ve ever received when purchasing a new bike. I purchased a Cervelo Soloist and I absolutely love it! They took the time and made sure it was a perfect fit for me! Fat Tire is the best bicycle shop in Albuquerque. I highly recommend them for your next purchase or service need. Fat Tire Cycles in Albuquerque have been a class act team in comparison to the other bike shops I’ve had the displeasure of working with. In contrast they were super patient with me in picking components and more than covered their bases when ordering options for me. A great team to work with for the extensive overhaul I requested.
