Safeway

In August 2025, we visited the Safeway grocery store in Astoria, Oregon. This Safeway store is adjacent to the East Astoria Boat Ramp, and we were able to buy some groceries and fuel up our truck and boat at favorable prices. This Safeway location is clean, well-maintained, and has a well-organized store layout. We had an enjoyable and memorable boating and fishing trip to Astoria, Oregon on the Columbia River.

Junior the grocery pick up order is always so kind and brightens my day. I feel so happy every time he brings my groceries because I know they are always going to be the right orders and picks. I am so happy that this Safeway has such kind and prompt employees such as him. He always gets my order right and brings them with kindness and a smile. Thanks Safeway !

Typical Safeway. Picked up some miscellaneous stuff plus large sub sandwich piled high with meats. Delicious. Picked up some Mayo & Mustard packets. Sub had no onions on it.

We shopped today at Safeway and used the fast check out. The old white lady cashier told me scan your phone and I said clip coupons don’t work so she had to override. She was mad and yelling me in front of the customers. She needs more training as customer service. Don’t bring her problems at home to her job. Our first time here and we are disappointed. We have Safeway back in Hawaii, they have good customer service and they don’t discriminate Asian.

The urine on the walls and floor were bad enough, but all the rotating spools for toilet paper being empty must mean nobody had checked or cleaned the bathroom for several days. Wouldn't trust a place with bathrooms this dirty to have clean food, either. Avoid.

Whomever prepped your breakfast burritos for sale this morning (9-10-25) placed uncooked bacon in it! Barely warmed. Pork needs to be cooked completely - see photos posted today.

The outside of the building is not maintained. The lines all need redone . The landscaping company you can’t tell doesn’t do their job over grown trees with damage to them from being hit by vehicles Lights over the front doors burned out or not being turned on . Staff is usally always friendly looks like they fired a lot of the rude ones . Would go here before seaside Safeway. Unfortunate that corporate doesn’t seem to care even after 5 months later of pointing it out .
