StraightUp Solar

Had a very good experience with StraightUp. Installed our panels at the end of 2015 and they're still going strong and producing a lot of energy, saving us money on our electric bills. It's been a while, but in an age where there are a lot more solar companies out there, some with dubious practices, I can say that I trust StraightUp to have integrity and do the job right.

It was a good experience. I worked with several people at Straightup and I found each of them to be very competent. Those planning to go with solar should know that the lead time for all the paperwork and assessment of your site takes quite a while. The actual install (12 panels in our case) only took a day and a half. The good thing is that the interaction with the power company, the town for permits and inspections was all handled by the SUS team. In addition to the education about how our solar system works, they also handled the paperwork after the install to get our solar energy credits from the state. They provided information for us to get Federal tax credits as well. SUS was always paying attention to our project, they explained what was needed or going on in layman's terms, and they were very responsive when questions came up or if there were problems. 5 stars to the entire team!

Straight Up Solar installed our system in April 2016. The experience was (sales through activation) totally positive. And the positive experience continues. They answer any questions I have quickly. We're starting our 9th year and they are still monitoring the system's production and contacting me if they see problems. (The "problems" have always been with the router that transmits data - not with the system.) I always recommend them without reservations.

Had the solar installation for a couple years now. Really working out great so far. Had some damage to the AC Disconnect cut off my solar production that I believe was due to lightning damage or at least had the telltale signs of a huge arc burning out one of the wires, but didn't blow the fuses or trip any breakers. Their techs came out that following week and did a workaround to get my AC Disconnect re-done to cut that melted wire and install the fresh end in the second phase which allows the panels to produce properly. Ultimately, the AC Disconnect is going to be replaced, but the repairs for the time being were very professionally done and got my solar production working again.

StraightUp Solar did a fantastic job through the entire process of getting solar on our house. They were extremely communicative and responsive. Workmanship was top-notch with explanations and information provided throughout. Great company to work with to get this installed.

We went with StraightUp Solar in 2021 and were energized in 2022. The Illinois process is arduous, but SU did all the groundwork to get the permits, approvals, etc. Our solar + 4 powerwalls has been keeping us going through power outages and the SU support has been 2nd to none. They really do care about their customer and make sure everything is handled in a professional manner. I am so happy we went with SU for our solar + battery needs. And make sure you get the critter guards. Squirrel like to nibble on wires not realizing they have a ton of power in them. One of my co-workers found that out the hard way and her roof caught fire.
