Today I visited IKEA Charlotte and had a wonderful experience. The store is huge, clean, and very well organized, making it easy to explore different sections and get home décor ideas. I loved walking through the model rooms — they’re so creative and show how to make the most of small spaces. The staff were friendly, polite, and ready to help whenever needed. The restaurant was another highlight. Checkout was smooth, and the pickup process was quick and convenient. Overall, IKEA Charlotte is a great place to shop for stylish, affordable furniture and home essentials, and it’s definitely worth a visit.
This Ikea store is HUGE and the displays are absolutely beautiful. If you don't know where you're going though it can feel like a maze. The grandeur of it is a little overwhelming but also fun. If you're just perusing, it feels like a museum visit. All items have a tag that describes what the item is called and where to locate it towards the end of the store. There is a tiny daycare location at the front so adults can walk by themselves. It also has two restaurant locations for those wanting food.
Ate lunch there and they were out of many items...even the traditional gravy...that should be simple to make (there's tons of gravy packets downstairs if they really made an effort to satisfy customers). Staff not very friendly (in restaurant). Definitely understaffed...lots of dirty tables and dishes. Lots of construction going indoors so couldn't see many sections.
Their famous meatballs were not as good as their rep was. They were less than a four star meal but their french fries and desserts are amazing. Would recommend the french fries for sure if you come and try the meatballs don’t get your hopes up as high as the rep is you’re probably not gonna like it as much as you would think you are.Other than that their service is OK
Too bad I have to give IKEA in Charlotte a 1 star. I was with a friend on the second floor. My friend is diabetic. He has a dexcom system that tells him what his blood sugar is at all times. We got an alert that his blood sugar was going down low. We took the elevator down to go to the car to get some recovery tabs. When we got down stairs we were close to the exit. We were blocked from leaving I explained to the lady what was going on. She told us we had to follow the exit signs. So off we go. We walked and walked and walked. At some point we ran into a couple of employees. I explained the issue that I needed to get him out of the building. Was told to follow the exit signs. After About an hour. We made it to the registers. My friend in tow with a blood sugar of 50. I had an employee to ask why I didn't tell one of the employees so they could help. I told her they were a joke because 4 employees I ask for help and nothing was done. My advice if you go into IKEA you will be trapped in until you walk by every single thing in that store before you can get out. Was going to file a complaint but you can't call the store or corporate office.
IKEA Charlotte is a popular spot for affordable, modern furniture and home goods. Located in University City, it offers a wide selection of items for every room, plus a café featuring Swedish meatballs and other favorites. The store is clean and well-organized, with helpful staff, though it can get busy on weekends. Overall, it’s a great one-stop shop for stylish, budget-friendly home essentials.
Bring your own tape measure because they mislabel items in the showroom!! We purchased all the parts for the desk shown as listed on the label expecting to have a two person sized desk. Spent an extra couple hundred dollars in accessories for a desk this large- only to get home (4 hours away) and realize it was mislabeled and the items listed were actually for a desk that only fits one person. Reached out to customer service and they said the only way they would exchange is if we drove the 4 hours back to return the $40 table top even though it was their mistake. We loved ikea before this but really disappointed in how they choose to treat customers and handle their own mistakes!
