Decent store for 80% of your shopping list, but quality control in produce is consistently horrible. Rotten produce is left out and nothing is restocked so you always are hunting the store for a produce employee. Understaffed perhaps. Management issue. Go to the Food City down the street.
This used to be a great place tonrun and get groceries or last minute cooking items... it has changed. I have seen expired products of all sorts including fresh cheese.. I have taken products up to the front and made them aware only to have seen the same product be put back on the shelf. There is more often than not produce with mold on it as well as fresh cheese. So sad for this location. It is in a great spot and convenient for many. But most of us long time clients now go to the new yet further away Food City. Please try a little harder.
Love Food City, but we will try a different location next time. First and last time coming to this one. We wanted to try Food City's grocery pick up option. We placed our $100 order at 3pm for 7pm curbside pickup. When we arrived at 7:10pm, we were told they had not started shopping yet. A little frustrated, but we understand things happen so we said we would wait. The cashier came back out to inform us they were out of corn dogs. Odd, because we did not order corn dogs. Turns out, they were shopping for a different person's order, and ours "never went through" even though we gave them our confirmation number and details that we had ordered directly from the website. After almost an hour of waiting, the only resolution we were given was that they could "cancel the order" (even though it "never went through".) We ended up having to leave with no groceries. They said their online pickup system "usually" works, but we won't risk it not working again.
Just moved to Chattanooga and this is my first time here at this Food city. Was excited bc it’s close to my house. I asked 3 different employees to help me find something and they tried pointed me in the direction but did not help me find what I was looking for. One employee gave me a few isles she thought it may be in and when I asked another employee he was too busy to help. The the original employee asked him if he wanted to help find it for me but he ignored her….. so I was left unhelped. I work in customer service and would have been happy to help a customer find an item if someone was in the same position. I ended up leaving my cart full of things go to a different store because of the lack of wanting to help me. I’ve never been to any store and ever had this happen.
Food City on E. Brainerd Rd. is an absolute joke. I waited to buy my rotisserie chicken until the day I needed it so it would be fresh. The package said it expired on October 15, but underneath the sticker was the original expiration date — October 10. They literally covered the old date with a new one and are selling expired chicken that didn’t sell before. I know because I was there the day before and saw the same chicken with the October 10 date. I called & asked to speak with a manager about the chicken. The woman who answered said, "Yeah, we’ve got those," (talking about managers) then put me on hold forever before transferring me back to the front desk. I went back because it’s the closest store to me and thought I couldn’t go wrong grabbing some butter. As I was checking out, I looked at the date — it expired October 5. Bottom line: Always check your dates at this location — and don’t ever buy a chicken there.
They have a good selection of items. Only problem is sometimes I can't find what I'm looking for and there's hardly anyone around to ask. There's never anyone at the customer service desk. The cashiers are always busy. The last time I was in, the friendliest people were in the seafood department but they can't help with the rest of the store. If you know what you need, then it's a great place to go if not you're out of luck
They were definitely not busy. I used the self-check and "bothered" the employees twice. Pulled her away from what she was doing!
