Cleveland Marine

There was turnover at our club and Terry cleared up resulting confusion and ensured our boat was winterized and then in proper working order this spring. Very happy Cleveland Marine took care of our engine and AC!

I contacted Cleveland Marine on May 19 with a drivetrain problem. They allegedly service Westerbeke and Volvo Penta so it seemed like a good fit. I was told it might be early June before they could respond, but I was put on a wait list. About a week later I received an email asking to confirm my service request, which I did. By mid-June I had not heard anything, so I called the office. They could not tell me anything or where my place was on the wait list. I also asked what an expedited appointment would cost and was told the service manager would call me. I made two more phone calls before the July 4th weekend and both times no one could tell me where I was on the wait list (now 7 weeks!) but the service manager would call me. It became apparent that I was ghosted. No one ever called. Frankly, I don’t know how they remain in business.

Terry ordered 2 lower units from us in August of 2024 and has refused to pay for them! He owes us $14,000. Two lucky customers have received stolen lower units!

Very disappointed. Do not use this business if you have 2 cycle outboards. I talked to Terry Ford in 2021 about putting our boat in his shop. We put the boat in his shop in March of 2022. He told us that it would take him approximately 2 weeks to repair the engine. The boat sat there and we watched other boats come into and leave his shop. There was very little communication and we had to talk to his secretary because he wouldn't return calls more than once a month. On August 26 2022 I stopped there in person and he stated that he doesn't know how to repair our outboard, he doesn't have time to repair it, and he's "not playing games." He then told me to take the boat and get it out of there. He literally had our boat, money, and parts for 5 MONTHS or more with nothing done to it. We will be removing the boat and not coming back. He's a very nice person but not an outboard mechanic or good business man.

Terry and his team did a great job making repairs to my boat. I had a problem with the vacu-flush system that other mechanics could not solve. Cleveland Marine diagnosed the problem and offered 2 solutions. Not suprisingly, I chose the one that was $300 less. They were very professional and completed the job while working around my boating schedule. They updated me as the work progressed and I highly recommend them for any repair that you may have.

This was our first time using Cleveland Marine. We set up an appointment to get our ski boat winterized. I hooked up the trailer to my truck and found the trailer lights were not working. Cleveland Marine happily added the electrical diagnosis to our appointment. They quickly performed the winterization and needed electrical repairs for a fair price.

Extremely pleased with my experience with Cleveland marine. After having massive issues with our inboard motor on my sailboat I had a hard time finding anyone willing to help me with it. After calling Cleveland marine they immediately got back to me, came to the boat with me to quote right before the holiday, and promptly had a plan outlined. Would recommend.
