Moving Ahead Services - Columbus Movers

I've used this company three times. Unfortunately I will never use the again, and I cannot in good faith recommend them. Two of the three movers during our recent move were professional and careful. The third was clearly "new" and needed to be "watched." He didn't respect our homes or our belongings and it showed. This resulted in damage to our walls, trim, and even a door. But I think I'm most frustrated with the handling of my complaint (three weeks later we are still trying to get some resolution). Customer service feels like a low priority to this company. I am being kept informed, but the person who I'm corresponding with seems to have no authority to take action. Fortunately the damage done doesn't look to be too costly, which makes me wonder why the company is dragging their feet at taking responsibility and offering me some sort of resolution. It's been a very disappointing experience. 10/19/25 - Update: I'd like to update this review, as the matter above has been resolved. However, I would absolutely never recommend this company to anyone for these additional reasons: 1.) It took nearly 3 months to resolve my issue 2.) Once the approval was given to pay to fix the damages, a check was written to me instead of to the contractor listed on the invoice - this required me to do extra legwork to ensure the contractor was paid 3.) An employee of this company told me that good movers are hard to find and they have to reserve their best movers for people who have million dollar + houses. (I guess no one should hire them unless their house is over a million dollars then) 4.) Upon receipt of the check, the company tried to get me to sign something saying I would remove this disparaging post. Everything in this review is 100% factual. If this company does not want a bad google review they should hire better movers and make customer service recovery their #1 priority -- even for those of us who don't own million dollar homes.

We were totally satisfied with all aspects of Moving Ahead Services. Starting with Jay who helped estimate and set up the move and schedule the team. Jay was extremely professional and helpful. It was Jay’s service and the trust he exuded that led me to choose Moving Ahead, out of the several quotes and individuals I talked with while getting quotes. Also, the pricing was very competitive! Diane was my move coordinator and she followed up prior to our move, ensuring everything was on track and all our needs were met. On move day Jeremy and Luke showed up early to the job. They were very professional and we felt very comfortable having these professionals in our home. They took great care of our possessions and handled everything with the utmost care. They wrapped and protected all of our items very well. We will definitely be using Moving Ahead services in the future for any needs we may have with moving, packing, and even hauling off junk. They are a GREAT company with awesome employees!

Elijah and Randy did a great job with moving my furniture into a new apartment. They were quick and friendly and tried to help me stay within the hour range I paid for. They also wrapped everything for free and covered all of my equipment/furniture so it did not get damaged. I would recommend them to anyone who needs moving services. I will definitely have to use them again.

James & Gary were amazing!!! Literally made this move such a breeze and were personable, mindful of myself and my things, and fast. They handled the job with care and I would recommend them to anyone in need. THE moving company to use 110%. Until next time…!

We were originally scheduled to move on October 13 and when no one showed up, we began to call the office. No one responded. After leaving several messages, finally we called the person who referred us to Moving Ahead. This was a 7:00 PM and we connected with the GM. He could not find us in their system, until I scanned a copy of our contract. Immediately, the GM determined our work order was assigned to another client. We negotiated another move date and consideration. The move date went smooth and the moving staff were efficient, courteous, professional and hard working. I would highly recommend Moving Ahead Services.

This was by far the most disappointing moving experience I’ve ever had. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 9–10 a.m., but they didn’t show up until 10:55. I did receive a call saying they’d be late and arrive around 10:15, but when that time came and went, no one followed up. I had to call and message multiple times just to get an ETA — and at one point, I was even hung up on. When they finally arrived, the work started extremely slowly. It quickly became clear that only one mover (Josh) was doing the majority of the work while the other mostly handled small items and distracted him. It was essentially a one-person move. Because of that, the move took far longer than it should have. I’ve moved with this same company before, with a similar amount of furniture, and it took just 2 hours. This time, I expected maybe 3 hours — it went well beyond that. Most concerning, there was significant damage to my property. The walls along the stairs in both my old and new homes were badly scratched and dented (I have pictures). Several walls in the new house were left dirty with handprints. One leg of my TV stand was broken off — I was only told about it at the very end — and a nightstand was also damaged. Overall, the communication, efficiency, and care for my belongings were completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this company based on this experience.

We needed labor only to move some of our furniture down the stairs, we are of the age where we just can't take risks, so we needed some young Alpha men to carry the load and it was Jacob's crew that did the work. They were in great shape, they were professional, polite, ready to work, they shrunk wrap everything to protect the wood. We were so happy we hired them. Their prices, I thought were reasonable and to me worth it. All I got to say is if you need labor, give them a call. We only had 6 or 7 pieces and they got it done less than an hour. I highly recommend this company. You won't regret it.
