Wayward Sister

We scheduled an appointment to go look at a 1 bedroom apartment, however, upon showing up, we were told that they may not have any units to show. First off, we drove from out of town to view this unit that we were told was available, and then nobody even has the courtesy to call us to say that it's no longer available? I guess Marissa saw the annoyed look on my face and then proceeds to tell us that she has one she can show us. We go to look at it, and upon entering, we see no less than a couple dozen dead bugs EVERYWHERE. Beatles, cock roaches, ants, and pincher bugs. GROSS! I don't care if they are dead, you took us to see a DIRTY unit and still think we want to rent there? No thanks. Although Marissa was nice and pleasant, she even apologized for the bugs, it's still not a good look on the apartments. I think we'll find a different place to call home.

I signed up with a section8 voucher & they weren’t in good communication with ME ( especially) & HA. I was due to have an inspect this Wednesday & they decided to raise my rent last Thursday! I’ve been applied to these apartments since May and it’s now July 7, they pulled this weird maneuver right before I was due to move in. Carlee talks to you with no compassion and a stuck up tone. The program director isn’t communicating with me when she promised too. Melissa misguided me and Norman is incompetent. The reviews about this place are true on yelp. I hope all the issues they have there bring that place down. I’m waiting for my deposit return.

UPDATE*** Ugh, so sad to even write this as I was so hopeful for this place. Let’s start with the first red flag. When my fiance and I toured and applied for this place, I was asked if I’d like to join the team as I had years of leasing agent experience and even being a property manager. A couple months later, I apply but then was told that they don’t allow leasing agents to live on-site. Yet they have leasing agents, that live on site and in fact, moved in after she had been a leasing agent here for some time. Whatever, not a big deal anymore, just why lie? Next, we were given a violation and told that the decorative snowflakes we had on our window for 7 months, was a violation of the lease and that they caught it during their "weekly" property walks. I don’t even need to explain how insane that sounds. And finally, the most bizarre red flag is not having a functioning carbon monoxide detector for the whole 1 year and 4 months that we’ve lived here. It was never tested before we moved in. We found out 1 whole year after we moved in, that there were NEVER batteries in there. We found out after we had an inspection from Carly and maintenance and they advised there are no batteries, and that they will follow up in a couple of days to replace it. It’s been 4 months and we were still never contacted. I just recently contacted them today, and they responded with NO apology, no explanation, and replied as if it wasn’t a big deal that we haven’t had a functioning system for over a year. What an absolute shame having to deal with this while I’m pregnant. First Review: I don’t even know where to start. As someone who works in property management, I know how difficult it can be in the industry. But the staff at Stonelake is just on top of their game in every aspect. They are easily the kindest and most helpful people my boyfriend and I have ever encountered. Carly, Danielle, Scotty, Allison and their manager have been so helpful and patient throughout our whole application and move in process. We got the keys to our apartment and it is absolutely so beautiful and very spacious!!! The apartment was extremely clean and honestly looked brand new. I genuinely couldn’t be more thankful for the staff and all their hard work. So happy to call stonelake our home (:

I am a long time resident of Stonelake apartments for over 5 years and I have been waiting to move out of Stonelake Apartments until I left my extensive review. I told myself that I would be leaving a review and have been keeping notes of several incidents that have taken place with the previous management as well as the new management. Living here for 5 years I have paid around $100,000 in rental fees to the complex. You would think that would earn you at least a tiny bit of respect? Lol Respect? That is a foreign concept to the staff at Stonelake apartments. Yes, as explained in other reviews Stonelake will find any reason for you to incur additional charges to your account. It seems they make up rules as they go, and add additional charges for parking, valet trash, and anything they can come up with for the day. That is not even the worst part, most of the office staff treat you as if you’re inmates (actually I believe inmates have it better) instead of valued residents, with a dictatorship mentality instead of being helpful. Unfortunately I believe maintenance is only authorized to provide "quick fixes" as these are the ongoing problems in my unit. Problems in my unit: Leaking Kitchen Sink that has caused extensive ongoing Water damage to baseboard. (photo provided) Broken shower faucet ( sprays water everywhere) Ants Washer machine that does not work properly has odor - asked to be replaced several times Recent incident with Stonelake Staff 12/5/23 I received an email while at the gym saying I have incurred a $25 fee for a trash can being left outside and the trash can should be inside at 9am. The email was sent by Lucy a member of the staff, I sent an email and then called as I I explained to Lucy in detail how the garbage can had been left there by my previous neighbors. I then explained in detail how I witnessed the maintenance crew place the garbage can in its current spot while they were preparing the unit (cleaning) for the new tenants. She further became extremely snarky insisting that wasn't the case, and that indeed the garbage can was mine. She insisted that I should have known to take responsibility over the garbage can since it was closer to my units then the neighbors. She furthermore began to state in a rude and condescending tone, if that’s the neighbors garbage can where mine was. I explained to her again in detail that it is not the current neighbors trash can rather the previous tenants before that had moved out. I have not had a valet trash can since moving in 5 years ago. Instead of communicating with the maintenance crew to see if they had left the garbage can there, she said she could not remove the $25 garbage can fee. The only solution is that they can remove the valet garbage can and the fee would still be on my account. Previous incident: Last year 2022 Unfortunately most of the units have old appliances. My microwave and Fridge both went out in the same timeframe and I had to wait for them to replace them. Stonelake does not replace appliances with new ones! They will give you any old appliances for the maintenance garage area. I was given a filthy microwave and refrigerator that had not been cleaned out! After going back and forth with the management at Stonelake I was finally offered another fridge, but not another microwave. The maintenance worker just came back and cleaned the microwave, I was told that's the best they can do. This solution only came about after much back and forth with the office staff. Thankfully Sandra, the assistant manager, was very helpful in this matter. to treat the residents. I wish they would live up to their name of being a family friendly community. Which they are not!

I had a scheduled tour on Saturday with Marissa. She was showed me the 1 and 2 bedrooms. I was impressed with the presentation of the tour, professionalism, and all of my questions were answered. The property is absolutely beautiful ❤️ with all of my required amenities, that I'm looking for. I look forward being a resident at StoneLake in the near future. God willing
