This place was a lifesaver when we first moved to Fort Collins! If you've ever moved, you can remember how much cardboard you had once you got settled. It would have taken us weeks, if not months, to get rid of all the cardboard through the recycling bins at the house. We were able to take excessive amounts of cardboard to the recycling center and dispose of it properly. So grateful to have this service in Fort Collins! Facilities are well taken care of and it was very easy to drive up, dump materials, and drive away.
Easy to find, very well-kept facility. There was a ton of activity while I was there. Fort Collins recycles a LOT.
Bring your plastic film here to be recycled! Please make sure everything is clean and free of food residue and water. Plastic film that can be recycled is generally any plastic film that can be stretched if you try to poke through it. See pics for visuals! *NO crinkly plastic that tears like gift basket wrapping or salad bags.* The cleaner our recycling stream, the more sustainable the recycling program! Same goes for all the other recycling bins. Please note: Styrofoam of ANY kind is NOT accepted here. Because it is such a light product consisting mostly of air, it needs to be densified in order to make recycling it commercially viable. There is a densifier at the CHARM station in Boulder if you want to recycle styrofoam. If you are unsure of what is OK/not OK, there are volunteers on site who can help answer your question or else there are pamphlets on the fence separating the free area from the special materials recycling area. Note that the special recycling area requires a $5 admission fee and then potentially additional fees depending on what you are bringing. It is operated by Waste Not, hence the fees. I recommend taking leaves and branches to Hagemans because their fees are generally less than here.
Incredible experience! Never thought I'd say that about a public recycling center... I went to drop off a load of cardboard. While unloading, the attendant came by and asked me if id like any help. I said sure, and he grabbed the last load for me. It was a nice surprise and very helpful. I loaded up on free mulch on my way out. Excellent quality and I'll never need to buy wood mulch again!
It was wonderful to be able to recycle items especially as an out of state person. =o)
Always friendly staff! Easy to dispose.
The volunteers were literally above and beyond today. I had a camper shell FULLLL of cardboard. They opened up the side of a dumpster so I didn’t have to climb the stairs. The man even offered to help. So kind.
