Very unhappy customer here! I'm very disappointed in Northern Tool and Equipment's customer service!! I came in to this store to purchase a broadcast weed sprayer on 9/17/25 and spoke to a sales associate for approximately 30 minutes prior to making my purchase. I told this employee what I was trying to do and that I was concerned at the price of a particular model. I was assured that the weed sprayer had a 60 day return window on it and if I tried it and decided to go another way I would be able to return it. Fast forward a month and I decided I would return the sprayer and get a cheaper backpack sprayer instead. However the store manager declined my return and accused me of trying to "rent a weed sprayer tool for free!" I tried to explain to the manger that I had been assured by one of his own employees that I would be able to return the sprayer if I did not like it, but he brushed me off dismissively and said, "yeah, yeah, I know what you're doing. We don't rent tools here." I would not have bought that sprayer if returning it was not an option. I have limited space in my garage and need to be able to store it long term. I thought a backpack sprayer might work just as well and was leaning towards getting one of those at NT instead, but the sales associate assured me that returns were allowed, so I bought the pricier model. It may be the case that the sales associate I spoke with was simply mistaken about the return policy for weed sprayers (which is not a big deal), but the arrogant and rude behavior of the store manager was despicable. He assumed ill intent on my part and treated me like a thief. I have reached out to the District Manager at Northern Tool in the meantime and hope that this review will encourage him to finally respond to me! Very disappointed in Northern Tool and Equipment's customer service!!

First of all the store is great. The employees are friendly, and the management. The parts and service guy, David is awesome!! But unfortunately they are closing the parts and service department at this location. I'm highly disappointed in why Northern tool would close that service. I've been coming to this store for years and have bought plenty of high dollar equipment. When the equipment had failures, David would get it back up and going without any issues or unsatisfactory in doing so. Northern Tool should rethink their decision in closing parts and service. It's the small business owners and customers who rely on David. He's honest and a great guy! Now what do we do to get parts and equipment serviced. FIX IT NORTHERN TOOL...

Not quite sure if this is a fair way to rate it, I actually really like the store and everybody that waited on me. We had a repair done on our mower and they did an excellent job. So the only reason I am giving a low review is to hopefully get some attention from Northern tools corporate to let them know how unhappy I am, that, after finding a great place to repair small machinery such as our mower, they've decided to close down the repair department!! Very dumb decision, it is very hard to find someone to fix those kinds of things, and as I understand it, the shop was always very busy and did well. I do not know who decided this but they should undecide it.

Wouldn't return a completely unused item 10 days past the 60 day return policy. Now I'm stuck with a $2,600 paperweight because they sent an engine with a larger shaft than what I specifically ordered at the store.

Last October I purchased a gasoline powered blower. I used it maybe five times, and as of March of this year, it stopped working. I took it to Northern Tools, and I received excellent service from David, the repair man. He spent a lot of time talking with the manufacturer, and it turns out that I unknowingly voided the warranty by using 100% gasoline in the engine, instead of the recommended mixture of gasoline and oil. I did this on only one occasion, and as soon as I realized it, I emptied the gasoline and filled the tank with the proper fuel mix. The device actually continued to work for several months after that. But, for this reason, Stihl will not honor the warranty. It will cost me more to repair the blower than it will to purchase another one. I talked to a young man in management in Northern Tools, and he was argumentative and rude. I simply asked him if his company backs up the purchases that are made by his customers. He disavowed any responsibility the blower. He said it was between me and the manufacturer. I regret that the manufacturer did not honor my warranty, and I regret my lack of knowledge in using this mechanical device, but I feel that no one is taking responsibility for the customer. I must ask myself: why would I ever go back to Northern Tools and make any additional purchases after this treatment by their management? I have always heard that Stihl made the best products, and I had resolved to only purchase power tools made by them, but I feel that I have been let down by both Stihl and by Northern Tools. A company gains loyal customers one at a time, and they also lose them one at a time. I prefer not to buy power tools at the large national chains, but I know that I would have received better customer service at Home Depot. It seems that the management of Northern Tools is not interested in customer retention.

DONT GO HERE!!!! If I could give them a negative I would. I also purchased a weedeater with a WARRANTY, and it does not work as it should. IT was SUPPOSED TO BE a auto release of the line, and it does not auto nothing. I spend more time trying to respool it that using it. I brought it back to them, for full refund, and they refused to honor their committment to the warranty or customer service. It is defective, Dont go here, they dont care about selling you defective equipment.

I do NOT recommend buying from this business. This is the first and last time I'll order from Northern Tool. I ordered the Milwaukee Impact Driver 2857-20 and a set of Ironton Impact Driver bits. I received a used Milwaukee 2757-20 with grease and someone's initials on it inside a 2857-20 box at the full price of the 2857-20 labeled as new. The packaging of the bits were also already opened. Obviously resale/reboxed items sold at full price as if they were new and they didn't even take the time to make sure they put the correct tool in the appropriate box. Very poor experience due to careless and/or deceitful work. This is no way to run a business. Buyers, you have been warned.
