Staff is usually very professional. However, there is one employee that is very consistent with low performance. Rudolfo has a very deep voice and a very stone faced presence. No expression, no smiles, no friendly gestures ever. When I attempt to break the ice with a kind gesture or comment, his blank stare remains, and he deliberately will not engage. Having the personality of a rock is one's prerogative. However, this type personality has no place in service. I encourage Staples to work harder at training, monitoring and ensuring that all employees are working on the same service ethic. Secretly shopping employees is a very good idea. Because the saying is true... One bad Apple can spoil the entire bunch.

Wow what a great store. I asked chatbot where was the best place to go for a laptop and a printer. After going through the vast amounts of data in seconds for laptop stores the chatbot said Staples is the best. I went to Staples and sure enough the chat box was right, Ned the manager was full of great information for my particular circumstances and knew exactly the right printer and laptop for my purposes. There was a very knowledgeable employee named Christian that installed everything I needed on my computer and he is an invaluable asset to the company and will have his own Staples pretty soon or be lost to a competitor. I could go on and on about the Staples in Long Beach I was very impressed.

From the moment I walked in, the store was well-organized, clean, and easy to navigate. Every department I passed through—from office supplies to printing—was neat and fully stocked, which always makes shopping more efficient and pleasant. The highlight of my visit, as always, was the exceptional service provided by Eddie. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that customers feel valued and supported. Eddie is knowledgeable, professional, and patient—always taking the time to answer questions thoroughly and offer practical solutions. What sets him apart is his genuine attentiveness; he doesn’t just provide service, he provides care, making sure that I left the store with exactly what I needed and with complete confidence in my purchase. Customer service at this level is rare, and Eddie truly represents the gold standard. His professionalism, kindness, and expertise are the reason I continue to return to this location. He makes the shopping experience seamless, stress-free, and even enjoyable. I highly recommend Staples Store No. 165 to anyone in need of office products, printing, or tech support—especially with Eddie on the floor. Our company has been shopping at Staples for two decades. I walked into the Long Beach store this morning, very skim staff — a cashier and a person at the printing service, but no one on the floor. I went to purchase a computer, went to the cashier to summon some assistance, was told someone will be with you shortly. After waiting 10-15 minutes and no service, I proceeded to leave the store — cashier watched me leave and seemed to care less! The worst service. Deplorable! I needed copy/printing paper, but refused to spend a dime at Staples after this experience. It deserves less than 1 star, giving 2 because the store is clean and conveniently located. I went to Best Buy on Cherry Avenue, not far away and bought a computer with attentive service. Staples Management, giving you this feedback for correction. I can’t be the only shopper with this experience at this store!

I went into the Staples on Atlantic in Long Beach needing help printing a large book file, and I knew it might be a challenge because of the size. That’s when I met Regina, and she was absolutely amazing. She was kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Even when she explained that certain things wouldn’t work, she didn’t stop there — she kept helping me find solutions while multitasking and assisting other customers at the same time. She stayed calm, attentive, and sweet through it all, and that kind of service is rare. Regina gave me 10 out of 10 service, and I saw her giving the same to everyone around her. If this Staples location ever loses her, they’re losing someone truly special. She’s a gem, and I hope they know how lucky they are to have her.

Under a time crunch I came here needing one copy and two pages laminated. After waiting for around 15 minutes for the sales associate to finish helping the one customer in front of me, I explained what I needed and she walked over to the copy machine with my paper to make the copy. Before she could shut the lid the store manager came by and instructed her to stop and start working on existing orders. She reluctantly came back to the counter and apologetically told me she wouldn't be able to do the 3 minute job now, but I would have to come back later. At this point I called the manager over and asked her why she stopped her employee from completing my 3 minute job, She informed me that's the policy when there are pending jobs to do. I informed her that she could learn something from her employee about customer service and I had neither the time nor the inclination to come back again. I will never patronize this Staples location again and I live right up the street from it. Congrats you've lost a decade long customer because of your Manager's poor customer service skills. It's unfortunate because I've always found everyone else here to be friendly and accommodating. I hope someone at Staples corporate reads this and seriously reexamines the qualifications that go into making someone manager.
