U-Haul Moving & Storage at Mendenhall

I am moving to an apartment in Memphis. To be closer to where I am moving I decided to reserve a U-Haul , a furniture and an appliance dolly. When I arrived I was impressed by what looked to me as professionalism: two people where working at the same time to help people get their orders. Eventually one worker left and one was left to man three stations. When it was my turn the young lady, without any explanation, told me that a text message would be sent to my phone for me to scan my ID. Eventually I discovered that my id couldn’t be scanned because it wasn’t a drivers license. The clerk clowned me for it. After getting everything right, the clerk notified me that they had no Dollie’s at all. I was highly upset seeing that I had reserved 2 dollies. The clerk said that it was first come first serve , but she had serviced other people in line that were behind me who also received Dollie’s. I do not like dealing with Memphis folk. Then as my boyfriend was driving the truck we got a message saying that we were 50 miles until empty. We had only just left the U-Haul place.

This location tried to charge me an extra day when I retuned the truck on time. I waited in line for about 20 minutes just to be told to leave the keys in the truck… So I did & left, but then it took 2-3 hours for them to actually register in their system that It was returned. Never dealt with such lazy & unhelpful people

(Mendenhall Store), Customer Service was Terrible! at 8:00 AM, to early to be Upset, , Van was Dirty I used Wipes to clean the Drivers side (inside), I had to tell them to put Air in the Tires! In which they went back and forth with me before doing so. Van was also on E, I had to go straight to the Gas Station. Worst part- one of the employees had left his cell phone in the van ,when I got his attention he walked up and said oh yeah, I left it in there. He was smoking a cigarette and asked me to hold his cigarette while he got in the van to get his phone. I stated I will absolutely not hold your cigarette for you .

Helpful, friendly, and accurate service. I was in and out successfully without knowledge of renting a moving van. They took excellent care of me.

Kesha and Tia were excellent! Easy pick up of our trailer. They were both friendly and professional with great customer service!

The personnel at this location were less than helpful. I arrived at the location and followed the instructions to the storage unit I expected to use. Upon opening the exterior door I was greeted by an unbelievably foul odor that was overwhelming. I immediately went to the office to report the problem. The personal did not display any urgency or communication skills. Before checking on the problem, they prepared a mop and bucket. I thought to myself, they have no idea what they are about to encounter. We caught wafts of the foul odor as we approached the storage building. The employees realized they had underestimated the problem when they opened the door and were surprised at the blast of the foul odor that hit them. They closed the door and instructed us to go to another U-Haul facility several miles away. They did not offer to call ahead and inform the other facility to notify them of the problem and to expect us. We were greeted well at the new facility. It took a while to go through the registration process all over again, and because the registration was not completed online, we were charged for a lock that was supposed to be free. After storing my belongings, I was told had to return to the original facility to return the truck. When I arrived at the original facility I informed the personnel that the gas guage was lower that when I topped it off due to the extra miles I had to drive. They said they would take care of it. I asked about a receipt for turning in the truck in a satisfactory manner and was told I would get an email. I did get an email today notifying me I was charged $34.14 for fuel. Even worse, the guage level included in the email was incorrect. I called the customer service number and spoke with a helpful agent who acknowledged the problem and submitted a request to refund the fuel charge. As a result of the delay in storing my items and returning the truck, I could not safely begin the next leg of trip and had to stay in a hotel overnight. I will be calling the area manager about my experience.
