Mary's Ace Hardware

Quickly greeted me as soon as I entered and asked "How can I help you this morning". The gentleman who assisted me made sure the items I needed were the correct size. Very friendly staff and even made my wife giggle (not an easy task I can assure you, lol). We left quite impressed and should we find ourselves back in The Big Easy and in need of hardware we will definitely return to Mary’s.

We find Mary’s Ace Hardware to be very handy in the French Quarter. This is a small store but has just about anything needed. They stock plumbing, electrical, painting and many other supplies. Upstairs is an amazing home accessories department with mixers, microwaves, coffee makers and almost anything else you can imagine. The staff is not the greatest but the selection and convenience make it worth it.

I recently brought a large square of paint to get a color match for some touch up work in my apartment I’m renting. I did not know the sheen and I did not want to ask the landlord because I did not want him knowing I’m touching up stuff. The guy who helped me did the match and then asked me what sheen it is and I said I have no idea I thought you guys would know. He choose a gloss sheen. Fast forward I brought it home and started touching up the parts I spackled. When it dried it looked totally different. I told someone and they said just bring it back and they will swap it out so I figured that to be the case. I brought it back today 7/18/24 around 11.30am and explained what happened. The guy working at the paint area then called "Kim" to make the decision. She instantly said no and I have to pay for the correct paint if I wanted a different sheen. She was also kinda rude about it. I work in customer service and would have never handled the situation like she did. I said I should have just went to Home Depot and she added "you should probably do that" and chuckled and said that after the paint is mixed what good is it to them. I responded what good is it to me either it’s the wrong sheen. Kim actually messed up my sheen the last time I went for a color match so I should have know better but I have no car and this place is the closest to my home and wanted to give ACE the benefit of the doubt. I was a regular customer here and am really annoyed how they handed this situation. I have spent a lot of money here and will not be returning and will also tell everyone not to shop here for paint. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER GO HERE FOR A COLOR MATCH BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES OBVIOUSLY AND WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MISTAKE. YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY WHEN YOU RETUEN IT. GO TO HOME DEPOT WHERE THEY ARE MUCH MORE QUALIFIED AND HAVE BETTER EQUIPMENT TO FIND THE CORRECT COLOR AND SHEEN.

Love this Ace location. Love the staff, the abundance in merchandise and don't mind the snack samples and Community coffee. Also pet friendly. There are 2 floors of home and yard products. Appreciate!

Around 10:30 easter morning I arrived at the N Rampart store after calling to see if what I needed was available and it was. Had my daughter in the car sleep. My intention were to go in pay for item and leave because it was at counter. I was quickly told I couldn't park in the front. The spot I was in, I actually waited for it. A white male earlier went in and out store. I know because I waiting on that spot. 1 employee said I couldn't park in front. The other told me make the block. After making the block and parking. A white gentleman walked out and got into a red sports car exactly where I was told not to park. Can't even avoid the BS on a easter Sunday

The worst shop in all America. They are cheating people, taking cars from the parking and after taking huge money only in cash! We went to the shop to buy something we need but we didn’t find and went to another shop and during this 25 minutes they tolled our car from the parking lot where wasn’t any signs

It breaks my heart to type this, but I won't be going back to Mary's. I've been coming here for 20 yrs at least, since before Katrina. I needed special keys cut for a roll down in front of my work. I called and they REPEATEDLY assured me they do it all the time and knew exactly what I needed. I go get 5 keys cut only to go back to work and find they don't work bc they're not the right size. I call again and am told they can't refund the keys because they are already cut. So I go and get the appropriate blank keys from the manufacturer of the roll down and bring them to Mary's only to be told they can't cut them bc it's a "liability". More like they want the money from buying keys from them. The literal FIRST place I call from Mary's parking lot not only can cut them but after hearing the story send a guy TO MY JOB and cut the keys on the spot for less than Mary's. I always try to support Mom and pop shops but Mary's has lost their way. Won't be back, at least until a less incompetent crew is working there. Truly a shame.
