This company as a whole has been dysfunctional to say the least! Back on 6/1/25 we rented a 26" truck in Charleston, SC to move our things back to New Orleans. At about 10am EST I called my wife to tell her the truck had a blow out. We paid for all the extra insurances or what not, which was a complete waste of money because I was stuck on the road in Alabama for over 12hrs. There was no empathy or compassion shown from the company whatsoever. Once we did get into New Orleans we rented a storage unit and we were told the only availability was on the 3rd floor. We put our things in the storage unit and went on about our life. Late August early September we rented a U-Haul truck to empty the storage unit once we got there we were told the elevator was down and no clue how long before it would be fixed… We also had a hassle to get a refund for the truck we didn’t need due to the broken elevator. We called every few days but kept getting the same story NO ONE KNOWS when the elevator would be fixed. We understand things happen but as a company your customer service is disgraceful, instead of constantly telling us what can’t be done how about telling us what you can do. It wasn’t until I asked Ms. Virginia can UHaul hire movers to get our things out, that she said oh that’s an option. You have to be there though, well that’s pretty self explanatory wouldn’t I have to be there as well if the elevator was working and I was bringing my things down myself? Even after all of this I was ready to just get my stuff and move on until U-Haul wanted to add icing and a cherry on top of this situation. On my previous call Ms. Virginia told us she canceled our future auto pay, September was already paid so we asked her why were we receiving text for non payment she told us to ignore them. Well why when I get to the 3rd floor is there a red NON PAYMENT TAG! …so the mover knew I was upset he said don’t worry I will go get the keys for you, but a few minutes later came back to say Scott the General Manager said that non paying customers has to come and settled their debt first. The level of embarrassment was at an all time high… because we explained to Scott the situation before even going to the unit. This shows he could care less who we were as a customer and I find this horrendous. We are still getting late notices in the mail.

I rented a 20' truck from this location for a short, 7-mile trip around town. When I returned the truck, I was charged a $20 fuel surcharge, claiming we used 4 gallons. I called to inquire about this charge, but the two U-Haul employees on the phone lectured me and said that I should have documented the fuel levels myself. I asked to speak with the manager, who refused to address the issue and instead dismissed my concerns. When I mentioned leaving a review, the manager responded indifferently and hung up on me. HUNG UP ON ME. I've been a loyal U-Haul customer for years, but after this experience, I would strongly advise others to consider different options. Terrible customer service and staff training. It’s not the $20 charge, but the way U-Haul staff responded to my simple inquiry — their poor customer service have made me decide not to use them again and prompted me to share my experience. Update: this scam has happened to several other customers now that I've read down the list of one-star reviews left for this location.

One of the front desk lady is very unprofessional, not respectful, keep on flirting with male colleague, not working while customers waiting for a long time. This person also laughing at my short last name, which is ridiculous. She even didn't complete simple rental process, left and give my rental case to a yound girl who just arrived in the store. They also over charge your gasoline, be careful with your tank. The young man at truck return was nice and efficient.

I made a reservation in the morning, drove to the city since the app says thats the only place that had the equipment I needed. Came in and they had three people in front. The GIRL WITH A FAKE BLOND HAIR AND LIZARD LONG NAILS was very RUDE. needs to work in the back or somewhere else since she doesn’t know how to treat customers right. instead of speaking to us keeps on chatting with the other lady shes working with. she does have a rental that I reserved but she said someone else is getting it Saturday (2 days from the day I was there) she was pretending to be in the phone while chatting with the other girl beside her. waited there for 40 mins. my cousin finally in a loud tone told her ‘are you gonna give it to us’ she started laughing with the girl beside her. saying "I’VE BEEN HERE THE WHOLE DAY". (girl! you work there so you should be there whole day if you don’t want then quit.) I have been doing business with u-haul for years and by far this is the most unforgettable experience.

Causeway location called me the day before my reservation -which I’d made weeks prior- telling me my truck wasn’t available, and that they didn’t have any for me to use. Told me they’d transfer my booking to Tulane and I’d have to go to another location. When I went to the other location, they told me they had no records of this booking and there were absolutely no trucks available and I’d have to go to another location. After pushing back on this, they GAVE ME A TRUCK. Terrible workers who are trying to pawn the work off to someone else and waste your time.

I've called multiple times and different times of day. 1. You're lucky if they pick up your call and don't keep you on hold indefinitely. 2. They never have anyone on site to refill propane it seems

Poor phone customer service skills. Woman on the phone puts me on hold, picks up still talking and laughing. Fails to know any answers to my questions, needs to be put on hold again to ask the manager. I'll use a different one
