Customer Reviews
Bellhop Moving has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 932 reviews on Google
Pat & Micheal did an excellent job. They were friendly, efficient and careful. They moved a new washer, dryer, bed frame and bedside tables without leaving a mark on the furniture or the walls. Also fun fact, Pat played collegiate softball and basketball. She is also a 2 time handball Olympian, AND also represented US in national games in rugby. Although retired, she plays rugby still. Most fun move ever!
The movers did a good job. We only used the labor and rented our own truck. The website charged us 3 hours upfront (based on what they thought we would need) but assured that the minimum billing would be 2 hours and per minute after that, and the billing would adjust if we didn't use the full 3 hours. The movers worked 2 hours and 40 minutes, but our bill was never adjusted and the company responded first to say that the minimum was 3 hours but that is only if you hire the movers with a truck which we did not. Once I responded with that information and included the breakdown of how much we were overcharged, they responded two days later that they would credit me back. Just be aware that based on other reviews, it's unlikely they will handle things correctly upfront. You will have to keep careful track. It's a shame because this is a stressful time for most people and the company should take more steps to ensure customers are not overcharged.
⭐️ If I could give zero stars, I would. My entire experience with Bellhop was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 11:00 AM, yet no one showed. When I tried to contact Bellhop, I was forced to deal with an infuriating AI assistant that endlessly looped through prompts and promised a callback that rarely came. I had to repeatedly call and manipulate the prompts just to get a live person on the phone. When I finally reached a human being, not one representative could give me a straight answer. I was repeatedly told, "the mover will be there in 45 minutes," which turned out to be a complete lie. The mover didn’t arrive until 3:20 PM — over four hours late. Later, I discovered that Bellhop never even gave the mover my contact information, which explains why he couldn’t notify me that he was running behind. Had he been able to reach me, I would have understood. The fault lies entirely with Bellhop’s incompetent lack of communication and professionalism. All I received from their team were meaningless apologies and canned responses claiming they "understood," when clearly they didn’t. By the end of my many frustrating conversations, I think it finally sunk in that Bellhop can’t seem to run even the most basic operation efficiently. An apology doesn’t fix the hours of wasted time, frustration, and complete lack of professionalism that defined this experience. Honestly, Bellhop should either shut down operations or hire my three-year-old nephew — because he could communicate circles around your so-called support system. This experience completely ruined what should have been a simple, stress-free move. Thanks for nothing, Bellhop.
Such a pleasant experience! It was my first time using a paid service to move, I was unsure what to expect but I quickly was very affirmed. Pat - the team lead brought such a positive energy to our move and did a great job asking about all the details. Manuel was so focused and determined even though we had some rain, everyone worked hard and got our move done early!
Awful. Do yourself a favor and hire somebody else. No way they have legitimate 4.5 stars. Very late then try to charge you a huge fee to cancel. Update: Bellhop called me at 9:35 PM the night before my move & cancelled my original booking because they didn't have a truck (a truck & 2 men for 3 hours). They said two guys could still come if I booked my own truck. I booked a U Haul at 10PM for the next day. They also told me that if the guys didn't work 3 hours then I'd get a credit for the last hour. One guy showed up an hour late, he and I loaded most of the truck because I had to get the truck back on time. He was a nice guy and worked hard. The second guy showed up an hour and 24 minutes late and finished loading and we moved. One guy worked 2 hours, the other an hour & 34 minutes (again, because he was an hour and 24 minutes late). Now they refuse to credit me with the hour I didn't use like they said they would or for the time the guy wasn't there. So, I'm being forced to pay for 6 hours of labor when I only received a total of 3 hours and 24 minutes when they told me that wouldn't be the case. AWFUL customer service. They take zero responsibility for their mistakes or poor service. EDIT based on their response: Your rep called me about my reservation & suggested I hire a truck and movers so I did and changed from labor only. Then your side canceled the truck late the night before. I accepted the labor only solution, again at your company's recommendation (and threat of a cancellation fee). The rep specifically told me that if they were only there for 2 hours, not 3, that I would only pay for 2 hours. You literally have that conversation recorded yet refuse to honor what I was told. Your guys were both late, one of them very late, not "shortly after." You are expecting me to pay for 3 hours of labor for a guy who didn't even show up close to on time--he was almost an hour & a half late. I had to do a good part of the move myself but I'm supposed to pay for a guy who wasn't even there??? You didn't fall short of my expectations, you didn't even get close to what you said you'd do. You seriously expect me to pay for something you never delivered??
We had a great experience with our movers Caine and Bennett. Both guys worked extremely hard and navigated a 3rd floor walk up really well. They were on time and worked hard the entire time. No damage to any furniture or our home. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Bellhop is a complete sham of a company. They promote themselves as a professional moving company and they inundate you with emails, texts, and calls offering pre planning lists, concierge service, etc. But when the actual move takes place, it’s a joke. In my case they sent a 21-year old college senior as the crew lead, and an 18-year old athlete as a helper. The third guy was a no show. The truck showed up 90 minutes late. The 18-year old’s girlfriend was offered up to help, and while she did, it was marginal at best and I assumed it was a genuine offer to help. A six hour contract took 9-1/2 hours, and multiple pieces of our very expensive furniture were damaged. A move that was contracted for $1,044 was over $1,450. I’ve spoken today with Tony, a very competent young customer support agent, who offered me a 15% discount. I passed. After the debacle of my move, I’m told they’re not liable, they’re not a moving company but a communication portal, and essentially I’m being stiff armed. I’ve disputed the extra charge with my credit card, and I’ve reported Bellhop to the Better Business Bureau. For the significant surface damage to my furniture I reluctantly accepted $303. BTW, I tipped the kids $125 because I’m a caring, decent human being. I didn’t see the damages until the following morning. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Unless it’s a small local move with inexpensive furniture, you will be severely disappointed. UPDATE 3/19/24 - Bellhop has issued several credits that take my final bill to $1,119 excluding the $303 credit for the thousands of dollars in damages to my furniture. RUN.
