H&R Block

I dealt with Joanne who was wonderful! The office where we filed our taxes was closed so I called the Wake Forest H&R Block. Joanne was knowledgeable, helpful and super nice!!

I went last year to do my taxes and it was a decent experience so I came again this year. First when I got a message saying they needed more documents I sent them the documents and a few questions, I got no response. Second when I went, they did not tell me while we were working on everything that due to the type of return I was doing the price was 4 times as much as last year. Third, I called the office no one answered so I left a message no response. Two days later I called customer service no one answered they told me to call the tax pro. Well the thing I tried to avoid happened and the IRS had charged me for it. I will not be coming back.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with H&R Block this tax season, and I feel compelled to warn others. First, my tax documents were completely mishandled. I brought them in carefully organized, but when they were returned, they were in disarray—some even missing. This led to delays and unnecessary stress. Initially, I was told I owed only $11, but after resubmitting the missing documents, my return suddenly showed an $8,000 balance. Even more concerning was a major data security breach. I was mistakenly given another customer’s full tax documents, including their Social Security Number, address, and other personal information. This is a massive violation of privacy and raises serious concerns about how H&R Block handles sensitive data. Tax preparation requires accuracy and confidentiality—H&R Block failed on both fronts. If you’re considering using their services, I strongly urge you to think twice.

Absolutely horrible. My fiancé made an appointment to ask questions. Carol Adams was extremely demeaning, rude, and dismissive. He left the appointment feeling like he's stupid. I called them to tell them that bullying is not okay. Carol calls back as "Kathleen" and asked what happened. I explained the situation and she starts getting rude and asking if I was there. I'm sorry Carol "Kathleen" that you have issues with your child's father but bullying is WRONG. And then you lied about your name?! Sick person.

Allie did fine. Efficient meeting. Everything looked correct. The $260 fee was a little excessive for what they did and I was not offered a discount. However, I have no other issue with the tax preparer.

DO NOT DO YOUR TAX RETURNS HERE! Worst experience ever. My initial return was missing more than $15K in deductions (which I had to point it out and go personally to get it redone). 30 days after they "submitted" my return I received a notice from the IRS charging me $250 penalty for a filling late! I emailed the person who submitted my return and to this date, have not heard back. I also received a client review questionnaire from HR where I detailed my negative experience and once again, to this date, have not heard a word from them. So, if sloppy returns with penalties and bad customer service is your thing, go ahead, this is the place for you. For me, never again.

Twice this location wasted my appointments. I sent a message when making my 1st appointment that I needed help with a previous year. When I showed up, they told me they couldn't help and I made an appointment for 2 weeks later. After confirming my appointment the morning of by phone, when I showed up they said there was no appointment. I had emails proving otherwise. I have wasted so much time and gas. Get it together, please!
