This is probably the SINGLE BEST PLACE to have a GENERATOR serviced or installed. First, this is a small FAMILY-OWNED company where the people still take pride in their work and have concern for their reputation. It's NOT some corporate-owned business that is just out to make a quick buck. These people have been servicing generators for a long time, which means they have seen every single problem there is and they don't have to guess their way through your repair by selling you unnecessary parts or services. Second, they maintain a vast inventory of parts, so you don't end up waiting for something to arrive from the manufacturer. And last, they take pride in treating their customers the RIGHT WAY, rather than trying to exploit everyone for as much money as possible, like so many corporate businesses choose to do these days. Let me save you some time by showing you EXACTLY how to best use this business to buy service for your generator. FIRST, before you call them, make SURE you know the name and model number of your generator, which is usually located on some sort of DATA PLATE. There's not much anyone can do for you if they don't know EXACTLY what you have. For example, my generator is an ONAN, made by Cummins, and the model is called MICROLITE. It has a 4000 watt output and the series is KY. They can't help you with parts unless you know the EXACT model number, so be sure to copy it down and have it ready when you call. Next, it's best to have some idea of what is wrong. Because saying "I don't know" doesn't begin to narrow down the problem and it means you will be leaving it up to them to first diagnose your generator. Some suggested problems could be: Doesn't start at all or hard to start. Doesn't run smoothly. No power output. Or, it just needs general maintenance however they see fit. Now, if you have no idea what is wrong, and you say "I dunno" then be prepared to pay a diagnostic fee just to have your generator inspected. What about recent USE? Sitting for years, and covered in cobwebs? Or, used and running a month or so ago? Yes, this company can probably bring a dead generator back to life again! The more details you provide, the better this company will understand your needs. Finally, remember, this is a BUSINESS and in order to stay in business, they must charge enough to make a reasonable profit. So, be prepared to pay for the parts and service that your generator needs. I recently had my generator serviced, and now I'm saving TONS of money on gas because I run this tiny generator engine to make electricity rather than the big V-10 engine in the motorhome. Plus, all my house-current appliances are usable now, and that means my microwave and air conditioner are back in service again. Having a working generator in a motorhome makes a WORLD of difference. You have house-type electric at the push of a button. Now that you have a better idea of what to do, you are well on your way to purchasing the parts and service that you need to keep your generator running reliably. And, if you don't have a generator at all, well then, this is the place to buy one and have it installed in your vehicle. If you want house-type power in your vehicle, then solar panels don't even come close to fulfilling that need. All these van-life people try to rely strictly on solar panels and they end up living in the dark and the cold, because solar panels are minimal at best. If you want house-type power, the only way to get it is with a generator! If you are contemplating ANY type of mobile business, having a generator and electric power makes all the difference in the world! A food truck, perhaps? A mobile pet service van? Even a mobile office! Any type of mobile business where house-type electric is needed. This company will make that happen for you. Dave is the man to talk to, but his young female assistant is just as capable as he is. I purchased from this business, so this is an honest-to-god legitimate review that you can trust. So, I'm writing this review because I'm THANKFUL to have found this place.

We had a recall on the generator in our camper. This company took good care of us. Very polite on the phone. Very friendly in person. I dropped off our Van finished in a few hours. No charge with the recall notice. Thank you for being friendly and professional your all appreciated.

My only go to for generator service. We take our toterhome and motorhome there for major service. Dave, Kira and the crew are awesome and always give us A+ service. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

No other business I would trust with my truck and generator. I’ve been coming here for 3 years and they freakin rock. Professional and transparent in every aspect. I can't give higher praise for this company. Dave and Noah are awesome. They under promised yet over delivered. Installed a new generator in my RV and customized the serviceable components so I would not have to drop the generator out of the bottom of my RV just to do regular maintenance. They knew we had a meeting out of state and got it back to us three days earlier than expected. When discussing our issues we had, this father and son team spoke with no hesitation and confidant in resolving them. We had the RV in a different shop which they kept making promises to get back to us and after 16 days we pulled it out because they needed to "order more parts" (those guys had no clue). Obviously I would highly recommend Smith Powerhouse.

I've been to various Onan so-called mechanics for my 4000 ultralight RV generator. Camping World what's a joke. Kept replacing parts that did not need to be replaced. I had them stop after $600 of useless work. They are not generator mechanics. Something easy to fix yes interior no. Also had a mobile generator mechanic. Out of Wilmington. Who really talked himself up. How good he was. He was good at dropping it putting it back dropping it putting it back . Still could not fix the problem. He found out it was an internal problem . Didn't want to have anything to do with it. Did not do internal work on Onan generators. Another place. Told me the problem and charged me $360. Trying to get the problem fixed set me back most of the summer. I won't drag this on any longer. Took it over to Smith Powerhouse. They knew exactly what was wrong with it. The generator was shot not worth fixing. Bad year bad model. I told Dave and his son Noah I wanted to go on vacation I've been laid back most of the summer because of this generator. They were book up for weeks. They went out of their way to book me the next day . So they could install the new generator I purchased from their shop. Great deal they gave me. Never met more of a honest knowledgeable professional shop. Soon as you enter their shop you can feel the vibe. So I'm giving them a five star rating I'd get them another one if they had one.

These guys were recommended to me by American RV to figure out why the generator on my Airstream Interstate was so noisy. I’ve had multiple visits to Airstream dealerships on the same. issue to no avail but Smith Powerhouse team diagnosed a few issues (one of them as broker mounts)and repaired it quickly, all for a very fair price. My rig’s generator is running better and quieter than it ever has. Highly recommend
