Standard Plumbing | Ace Hardware

I'm a long-time local resident who has always preferred to support small, local businesses and this hardware store is the closest to my home. Despite years of trying to make it work, my negative experiences now significantly outweigh the positive. I'm leaving this review to confirm that the other negative feedback here is unfortunately accurate. I've found they often don't carry the basic items I'm looking for, and most employees are unhelpful, relying on a manager for the most basic information. The final straw for me occurred today. After previously confirming with an employee over the weekend that they offer wood cutting and double checking their website which lists "lumber cutting" as a service, I hauled my board over on foot. When I arrived to the store I asked to be directed to the person who could help me cut my board. The employee acted like a deer in headlights, as if nobody had ever asked for such a thing and radioed the manager to ask if they did that sort of thing. He then tells me, "No, we don't do that. Well, we do, but only if you buy the wood from us". When I asked for an explanation he said, "I'm just the messenger". This level of incompetence- a clear contradiction between website, staff information, and manager policy- is unacceptable. I won't support this business anymore and I HIGHLY recommend Cole Hardware for anyone looking for a better experience. I'll be taking my board there to cut this afternoon.

I don’t understand how this place has any bad reviews. It’s literally the best hardware store I’ve ever been to. Every time I go to other stores, I’m never ever ever able to find anyone to help me. At this store, there are always too many friendly store associates looking to help. I am amazed at how they stay in business with how many people they always have. Also, I saw some reviews that mentioned a negative experience when getting keys cut. I just got two keys cut for a reasonable price of $8.67, and they did it so quickly and with a friendly attitude, and the keys match up

They are the nicest hardware store around. The staff knows their stuff and always treats us right. I go out of my way to come to this ace and have for a long time.

Have been shopping here since they opened but had a bad experience today. I asked one of the employees where the trash can was so I can discard an empty plastic cup from my hands so I don't have to carry it around the store. I was told that they didn't have one. That just didn't make sense to me so I left the cup by the entrance and went to look for parts. After awhile, I was approached by another employee and was let know that this is a private place and that I shouldn't bring my trash in there and that I need to pick that cup and take it with me. Wow, amazing customer service! The irony is when you look at their sign outside it claims "The Helpful Place"

Nice store. Customer service was kind of weird like the person was doing me a favor by helping.

Like some bad reviews said, this location is steps away from where I live, and I usually go there first to get my YETI cups as I gifted everyone around me expensive, but good quality cups. However, I always had bad experience with this associate named Allison. First time was the apartment keys that I had them cut there, and they were not working, so I tried to get my refund. She responded with huge attitude. I just walked off and tried to blame my keys that they weren't original. Next I tried to copy a brand new mailbox key, again it didn't work. I was unlucky to walk into her again. She asked the same question why am I refunding my key? Because it didn't work I said. Recently, I had to return a Yeti cup that had scratches on it, she asked where the scratches are. I was like eh when your customer is not satisfied, you tried your best to accommodate us. Not asking bothering questions. And I've spent over $400 on Yeti cups from this store. Next time, I would just walk further to 5&10, so I don't get judged by Allison, or better yet if you are Yeti nuts like me, go to Sports basement for 10% discount. 😉

Deborah is outright rude. Bough screws. Right after checkout realized that I got the wrong length. Told her I’m going to go back and get the right ones and she nodded. Came back and politely asked if I can get those instead. Was told "what do you mean instead, we don’t accept returns" when I already arranged them other ones in the right bins. Paid a second time to not waste time. Next time will go to Home Depot, nicer people and much cheaper prices. This business doesn’t support local community why should we support it
