Kurt was professional, courtious, and efficient. He taught me some things about the system in our 70 year old home that were super helpful. I would definitely welcome Kurt and Hughes for all my HVAC needs.

Hughes Mechanical's plumbing duo of Mike and Cody did a phenomenal job repairing the leak from from a cracked cast-iron pipe coming from apartment above mine. They were prompt, thorough and explained the process to me. Major relief. Stephanie was awesome as she coordinated this large project and found the perfect time that fit my schedule. This is the team you want to find the right solution to your plumbing issues.

The guys at Hughes were wonderful!! They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, hard-working, and easy going. A real estate friend/neighbor recommended them to me and I am very pleased. I will 100% recommend them to others and definitely use them again. They didn't pressure me and took time to explain everything. At the end, they cleaned everything up and it looked great. I got a new (gas) furnace and a water heater, installed a register, and removed the ancient oil tank.

We call Hughes for all of our HVAC needs, and today’s amazing experience reminded me why. We were lucky to have Kurt taking care of our issues today, and I hope I can request him every time! He took time to explain the issues to me and taught me how to be proactive with system maintenance. He truly went above and beyond — I cannot say enough positive things about him and the experience. He was there within an hour of calling and so efficient while also being incredibly thorough (and kind)! Our house is cool again and the experience was amazing — I highly recommend Hughes for all your HVAC needs!

I hired Hughes to replace an AC unit at one of my rental properties in Baltimore. I had previously used them for other smaller jobs and was overall pleased with their service. One of their technicians came out to inspect and service my three apartments and he recommended replacing one of the units that was an older model and not functioning as well. He connected me with Jason (one of the owners) who gave me a quote and I agreed to move forward with it. The technician who came out to replace the unit didn't seem as experienced, but he was very polite and professional. He kept the job site clean and communicated with me often. A few hours after the job had been completed, at 11:30 at night, I got a call from my tenant mentioning that the house reeked of gas. I called the technician and texted another, but no one answered. So I went on their website, which says "Emergency Services Available," and tried to call the mainline, but no one answered. Eventually I was transferred to a call center that said "all of our technicians are busy helping other clients" and that they would call me back in 2 minutes. No one did! So we called the fire department who came out and identified the source of the problem. Hughes used an old existing gas hose to connect the gas line to the new system. That hose was not compatible to the new AC, so it leaked gas. As a result, the fire department shut off the units and the gas supply to the house. Hughes came back the following morning to replace the hose and fix the problem. When we turned the gas back on to the house, my hot water heater that is fairly new and had been working perfectly fine, wouldn't operate. The pilot light was not coming on and Hughes sent two of their technicians to look at it. They mentioned that the gas valve to the hot water heater was no longer working and that they had to replace the part. The plumbing supply company was about to close, so the technicians said they would be back in the morning with the new part to replace it for me. The next morning I get a call from the owner, Jason, saying that the part wouldn't be available for at least two days and he wanted to charge me $600 for the job. He actually tried talking me into replacing the entire hot water heater ($2,400 and offered to give 10% off). It turned out that my hot water heater was still under warranty, so I called the manufacturer who shipped out the part at no cost and hired another plumber to install for a fraction of what Hughes was quoting me. Their website says "Educate, Not Sell." It sure didn't feel like that. Hughes fixed a problem and created another. The least they could have done was offered to fix my hot water heater after all they put me through. I'm sorry to say the experience overall was frustrating, time-consuming, and generally disappointing, as I no longer feel I can rely on/trust them with this important work. I wish the outcome had been different.

Update 9/27/24; I wanted to update to reflect the fact that I've now learned that this install was done a little sloppy. The safety shutoff for the new condensate pump was not wired into the system so this could have caused major problems if the pump failed and leaked water all over my basement and HVAC system. Luckily, it's within their labor warranty window, so I emailed and they promptly came and remedied the issue. Just a word of warning because I would never have caught the issue had I not had an HVAC service from a separate contractor, who pointed out the issue to me. Good install today. Work was completed quickly and the crew cleaned up the area well. The system will hopefully run much more efficiently than my previous 30 year old model. My only concern is the location because the unit is much larger than the previous model and the new location is over the drain line of my sump pump. It’s a tight space so not many options. The techs have assured me the unit is safe where it’s at so hopefully that works out.

Had a great experience with Hughes Mechanical. Stephanie was prompt with callbacks and follow through. Despite the timing during the busy heat wave season, she was able to fit an appointment in for us. Kurt was amazing - was very thorough and took extra time to explain things and answer questions. We are very appreciative of the service!
