JP Urban Moving | Local and Long-Distance Moving Company in NYC

We’ve only moved twice in the NYC area, and we used JP Urban Moving both times—once to a fourth-floor walk-up and once from a fourth-floor walk-up—and both experiences were absolutely excellent. They were incredibly reliable, trustworthy, quick, efficient, punctual, and professional from start to finish. We had a lot of stuff each move, and the team handled everything with care and impressive speed. For our first move, they carried all our packed boxes and furniture up four flights of stairs without a single issue. For our second move out to the suburbs, they carefully brought everything down those same four flights, loaded the truck, and delivered it to our new home without a scratch. Their crew is friendly, organized, and clearly experienced. The pricing was competitive (even cheaper than the company all the influencers use), and the level of service was top-notch. We’ve had such great experiences that we wouldn’t even consider using anyone else. Highly, highly recommend JP Urban Moving. We’d use them for every single one of our moves!

JP Urban Moving was an incredible team to work with! Our crew — Enrique, Assuncion, Ronny, and Salvador — were all fantastic. They were fast, efficient, and super helpful with packing and handling our furniture - especially our gym equipments! We were originally torn between JP Urban (hourly) vs Piece of Cake (flat price) since we were moving farther out, but a friend highly recommended JP Urban — and we’re so glad we went with them. Unlike my last experience with RW Moving, none of our furniture was scratched or damaged. The team handled everything with real care. A couple of standout touches: they sent us a live tracking link so we could see exactly where the truck was, and the main office even checked in mid-move to make sure things were going smoothly — which we really appreciated. A couple of heads-ups: JP Urban is very transparent about their pricing. They do charge for any packing materials used, so packing as much as you can in advance can help keep costs down. They also include a fixed travel time fee, which covers the drive from their lot to your starting location and from your final destination back to their lot. Bonus: They offer capped pricing during non-peak seasons. Pro tip: Search online for a 10% promo code before booking! If paid with cash, 5% off!

I was really happy with my moving experience with JP Urban Moving! These guys were incredible! They were on time and had all my furniture wrapped and boxes on the truck in just over an hour. I moved out of NYC and the estimate was really reasonable AND the final cost was only a couple hundred more than the estimate. I had heard horror stories of people having to pay double what their estimate was. I did do a really good job packing everything ahead of time but these guys made the whole process so easy. They were fast, organized and super efficient! I would highly recommend them!

This was a great team! I had Sal as my crew manager + 2-3 other guys. I booked this across two days bc my starting building was extremely nitpicky with the time to move and wouldn’t guarantee me an elevator and loading dock for more than a couple hours. So my journey with JP Urban moving: 1. I called in 2. I was able to ask them about my situation, what they recommended, asked them if it be possible split between two days. 3. I was able to have a video with them and just point what i needed pack, all this, all this, avoid this, etc. and get a quote generated for me without having to sit through a million things to enter. 4. Asked them what days were available to move so I could coordinate with my buildings, and adjust later if needed Bc my moving date wasn’t yet exactly set, I was told I can do a quote first and edit later if needed which was helpful 🙂 Their response time has always been within 24 hours. I was happy with the price and thought was reasonable for a 2b2b move, bc i requested 2 days of work for packing / unpacking. (They certainly could have done it all in one day IMO! They were so fast! Just one of my building had issues with guaranteeing freight elevator and loading docks.) The week of the move, day before move, and day of the move I got email / txt msg for confirmation. I also the day of, was reached out too by a move coordinator who was in a group chat with me / movers / coordinator + update on where the truck was. They came on the dot on time, even tho they gave themselves a 15 minute window. A much better experience than Piece of Cake where I was told a 4 hour window before! (which was absurd). I hired them for packing day 1, and move + unpacking day 2. I opted in for their eco-bins which they would entirely pack in, and unpack. And these bins were sturdy! They packed well, efficiently, organized by rooms. Disassembled quickly. Amazing how well they did! Nothing damaged other than a couple lego bricks falling off but (obvs it’s tiny legos so more than acceptable). Posters, frames, bed, couches, projectors, PCs, were all perfect. Unpacking was amazing! They did a great job reassembling my bed, my sofa. Moved in the office desks, 3d printer, pcs, so on with care! They helped placed things where I told them to place, or did their best based off the categorization of the boxes I recommend if you do unpacking and have many small items, I have ikea shelves to where I could place stuff temporarily, but can ask them for maybe a few large cardboard boxes to keep and place things into. Not bc they did a bad job, just bc unpacking small items into a new space can be easier to dump some things into there for a different day. I highly recommend Jp Urban moving! I was considering flatrate movers (which their reviews if u look on yelp / yt wasn’t good and they quoted me more than JP urban moving). And while Piece of Cake is the NY staple, their bad communication, some lack of care, etc. (urgh). When I used piece of cake, random movers came and were not even at all coordinated with any of my basic requests such as, we need more warddrobe boxes for our clothes. (Which was specifically on the quote with Piece of Cake moving). So what a stark contrast of a much better experience with Jp urban moving JP Urban moving, everything was taken care of properly. Their quote was also insanely accurate? They do charge by the hour, so I was a bit worried about inaccurate quote but was on the dot. Everything is insanely transparent, if you want to pack yourself, etc. obvs will be cheaper. But i wanted a white glove, do 98% of the work for me bc the last time I moved i was sore as hell from the amount of stuff to prep. Also zelle / venmo / physical cash all work 🙂 which makes things easy.

We were moving from NYC to Hawai'i into a PODs container and they helped us through the whole process. The guys were professional and always upfront with pricing. They were not the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for! They completely removed the stress of moving because you knew you were in good hands the moment they got to work. They pre-packed everything a few days before. Left us the bed to sleep on (and packed it the day of the move). The day of the move was extremely smooth. They ensured us that everything would fit in the POD container. They had an idea of how the boxes would structurally stack the moment they started packing so they made sure the bottom boxes were most structurally sound. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Moving in NYC is no joke—especially when you’re coming from a 6-floor walk-up. I recently moved out of my first New York apartment, and I genuinely don’t know what I would’ve done without Marco’s team from JP Urban Moving. They were beyond professional, kind, and incredibly efficient. They packed up everything for me—kitchen, bedroom, bathroom—you name it. I didn’t have to lift a finger. What really blew me away was how they handled the stairs like it was nothing. I struggle just getting groceries up those steps, so watching them work was seriously impressive.
