I would make this a zero star review if that were possible. I moved 3 months ago, set up my transfer of service in advance, and received confirmation that my service was changed. 3 months later, I received an email with confirmation that I am turning the service off to my previous location on the current date(3 months after moving). I looked at my bills to find I have been charged for both my new and old apartment for 3 billing cycles. I have confirmation from BGE that my service was to be turned off on the correct date, however they did not do this and I have been doubled charged for 3 months. Now good freaking luck trying to talk to a real person. Your time would be better spend driving to the main office in Baltimore. The automated customer service is a wonderful tool, but not for getting what you need, rather for testing every fiber of your being. Go ahead and put in a claim to Apple Care because you are going to want to smash your phone into a million pieces. As of now this issue is still not resolved, I was hung up on by the artificial customer service 8 times, placed on the "callback" list with no avail. You would have a better chance being called back the tinder date you ghosted 6 months ago. Whomever is running this company must heavily empathize with Heath Ledger's Oscar winning performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Night". The costumer service is diabolical, lacks empathy, and seems intentionally designed to cause as much emotional damage as possible. Good news though, I was able to try out all of my new coping skills from therapy. Anyone who is about to attempt a similar customer service request, I implore you to properly prepare yourself. If you are having a bad day, don't even try it. This will be the last straw.

We have a down power line in our backyard that has resulted in sparking. We’ve called 8 times and got the run around each time. Finally, a fire occurred in our neighbors yard. Evelyn needs to be fired immediately. Absolutely 0 compassion and told that my emergency is not important. Please re-evaluate safety for loyal customers.

I’ve been trying to get ahold of someone from BGE since 900, I’m moving, and they sent an email with the wrong address on it. I’ve called 9 times, and been hung up on everytime.. the wait time to be called back is 4 hours.. but I’d highly doubt I won’t get one back. This is absolutely ridiculous. To send most of your day trying to get ahold of BGE. To have to get BGE for your home and cant even get on the phone with a real person, is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I could give a zero star because I would. Update- after 2 hours of trying i finally got ahold of someone.. a women answered and I didn’t catch her name, but she did an amazing job, with helping me with my issue, she was very attentive and nice! Thank you to her for helping me with my problem. Even tho it was a hassle trying to get a hold of someone I’m very grateful that I did. Thank you!

BGE has horrible customer service; they actually have NO customer service. I have attempted to speak to a real live representative for the past 6 days. Nothing happens/. I requested a call back on all 6 days and NOBODY CALLED ME BACK for the first 5 days. Today I did get a call back and when they called they told me to "press one" to speak to my customer representative, THERE WAS NO ONE THERE; INSTEAD THEY PLAYED HORRIBLE MUSIC IN MY EAR until I just hung up after 10 minutes of music.

They turned off my BGE in November with 3 kids in the house. We slept in 40-50 degree weather last night because I couldn’t get ahold of anybody. Everything is a callback and honestly I’m so over it. They are robbing people blind and the govt does not care. Can’t even get ahold of a human on the phone. But as a Marylander what choice do I have?

Horrible. If I could give them zero stars I would. Billing makes errors EVERY month, and they rarely fix their own mistakes. They may even send you turn off notices when you have a zero due balance. Support is horrible, you have to jump through hoops just to get someone on the phone and by the time you do, you want to rip your hair out. I hate that I have no other options, and they probably love that. "Budget billing" is an absolute joke. It’s more than doubled in a year and I get that there are some outside factors, but let’s be honest, they’re gouging as well and the "errors" and over charging they hope you won’t notice, aren’t accidental, it happens too frequently. I would literally find a new home out of area specifically to have a different service.

I have tried contacting BGE on five separate occasions to speak with someone about having a technician come to read my meter because of the high bill. I am the only person that resides in my home and am out of the house from 7 am until 6 pm. I have no central air, don't take frequent showers, don't wash or dry clothes and yet my bill is $330. My daughter has a family of 3 and her bill is last than $200. Last week checked the online bill and had two separate bills (BGE $281) and (Budget Billing $323). Contacted BGE on August 18, 2025 to speak with someone to see why Budget Billing is higher then the actual bill and was put in a que with a 3 to 4 hour return call waiting period. Have since called on August 19th, August 20th and today, August 25th and still have not received a call back as of yet. This company can take your payments like clockwork but can't return your calls. Where can you file a complaint against this company because they are scamming people out of their hard earned money!!!
