Tephra Solar & Roofing

We needed to replace our roof and decided to get solar while we were at it. We wanted to go with a company that did the roofing and solar, and Tephra gave us the best price. Jorge was great to work with and Isobel kept us informed the whole time. They replied quickly when we had questions. Our roof needed more work than we were expecting and the roofing team went above and beyond to get it done and done well. The solar install went well. Overall we're happy with our experience.

We had solar installed they’ll say my name doesn’t come up in their data base and it won’t since it was primarily under my husbands name. My name is on the financing. However I digress. They began the install in March installers were amazing courteous and did everything asked that’s where things fell apart. We never received one call back after calling so many times we lost count. We did more leg work than any client should have. I as a 28 year customer service person have never experienced such atrocious service. They said 30 days to get everything up. To PTO by July we were getting text at best from Isabelle with placating messages that they were still working to get an Inspector out. We called their permitting office they had no record of any request for an inspector. Goodleap the financing company was fed the same lines as we were. It took me speaking with a supervisor in Roofing then Solar to get any actual answers as to what was happening this was 4 months after install. Now Mr owner who waits 3 months to respond to bad reviews with accusatory responses it would be better to call that client and speak directly with them. You’ll get better responses from us.

Andrew Ward and Tephra were amazing to work with. We are a military family that just moved to Colorado Springs. We had spoken with several companies but Andrew was extremely cordial, laid back, and not pushy which is what drew us to him. Andrew is an expert in his field with over 8 years in the industry and his knowledge far exceeded anyone else we spoke with. We spent a great deal of time perfecting our system with him, and received the best possible technology and warranties available. Tephra also will be doing an energy efficiency upgrade to our home with R60 insulation and attic fans. Our solar panels are completely American made with a roof warranty of 25 years. The installers were great. Kenny was fast, reliable, professional and communicated everything necessary with us. We couldn’t be any happier with how things turned out. There really is a difference with Andrew Ward and Tephra vs other companies. Andrew’s the most informed solar consultant in the Springs and is also the most ethical we’ve seen. We are extremely pleased with him and Tephra and recommend other families to go the same route.

We have not had our roof installed yet, but so far everything has been really smooth and easy with Tephra. Nathen was super nice, informative, helpful, and transparent. Also, he was very thorough in explaining everything. He did not rush us or push us. It was a wonderful experience so far. Furthermore, they helped us with the insurance claim and communication was clear and direct .

The process was pretty smooth for the most part and I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it took a lot longer to go through than I expected, ~7 months from the time we accepted to move forward with Solar to the day it started generating power. Our sales guy was great to work with and we're looking forward to seeing our power bill drop this summer. 2 Year Follow-Up Edit: We had some wind damage to our roof and decided to replace the shingles. We used a different company to remove and replace the solar panels and when the roofers removed the shingles they found that many of the solar panel mounting brackets were improperly sealed, causing water to leak into the plywood. I contacted Tephra to see if they would cover the wood replacement, but they said my warranty was voided because someone else touched the system. Mind you the touching of the system had nothing to do with their improper installation. The roofers said that if we had waited a year or two more than our entire roof would have been leaking and we would have had much bigger issues to deal with. I would highly recommend everyone who uses this company to check your roof. You might be at risk of serious roof problems as well and left holding the bill. Very disappointed.

They were really easy to work with and made it easy for us to use our insurance to help cover the costs. They finished our roof quickly. Definitely recommend them.

So far we have had a great experience with Tephra Roofing in Utah. They respond to emails quickly and both Jordan and Nathan were very friendly and took the time to explain things well. We are waiting for the roof to be installed on one home now and waiting for them to work with the insurance to help us get more on another home and hope that goes as well. They have made the process very easy for me.
