5 Star Solar

5 Star Solar is the worst company I have ever worked with. Ever. They installed our solar panels over a year ago. When asked what it would cost to have them removed to redo our roof at any point, they quoted us $500 - total for both removal and re-install. We asked multiple people and they all said the same thing. Last fall we had a huge hail storm causing damage to our roof requiring new shingles. It took six weeks of calling and leaving messages before they responded to our calls to remove the solar panels. Then when they scheduled the removal they did not come the day they committed to, requiring two more weeks of unanswered phone calls. After the re-shingling on the roof was complete, it took a few days for them to come to re-install the solar panels - again not showing up when they initially said they would be here. Everything works well and we like the product, but when asked about how to pay the bill for the removal and re-install no one could give me an answer and I never received a bill of any kind. Six weeks later they called to complain to me that I had not paid them the $2500 I owed them. They claimed to have sent multiple emails that I never saw in any email inbox or spam folder - and I check all of that daily. There wasn't even hard copy in the mail. When questioned about the original quote of $500 they told me I was mistaken and that no one in their company would have ever said that. This entire process took well over three months from first phone call to demand for payment. They don't respond to phone calls. They don't show up when they say they will show up. They quote a price and then don't keep their word.

James and 5 Star solar installed my Solar Panel System more than a year ago. Installation was quick, up and running within two weeks of them starting (they were done in a week, I had to wait for Rocky Mountain Power to install my net meter). I generate plenty of power, and can monitor it all from my phone. I haven't had a power bill since they installed (minus Rocky Mountains $9 fee you can't get rid of). They even painted my conduit on the outside of the house and in the soffit/fascia to match my home according to my HOA regulations. I have recommended them to others and will continue to do so. James was awesome. We went with a different company at first and when that other company wasn't delivering as expected James took over the job and delivered more than I could have expected. Because James took such good care of us I recommend him to people I know and I don't get a referral bonus for it. My bonuse was the excelent customer service I received that was above and beyond. I feel like I got a better deal than anyone around. I had bids from multiple companies and with 5 star I got more panels for less cost than the big named companies. Oh and my bill has been $9 ever since. Do yourself a favor and at least get a bid from 5 star.

So I went through Encor Solar for all the initial setup. Encor partnered with 5 star solar on the installation of the panels. I have contacted both companies many times since the panels went up to see about adding panels and or moving panels that aren't as productive as others due to location. Both companies have pretty much ignored me. No one has reached out to me when they said they would, nobody returns my calls. I have referred family and friends who have bought and then they have referred friends who have bought. I have brought in a lot of business for these 2 companies and this is the thanks I get. It is so nice not having an electric bill. James and his company installed my solar 2 years ago and it has been amazing. I have had no issues with my system and it was so much less cost than several of my neighbors. I would work with them again.

Worst company to deal with. Never return calls and took months for them to send someone out to replace a circuit board that blew due to bad wiring. I would never recommend them. Them and Encor Solar horrible to work with. Promise a working product and warrantied, but when issues arise not one of the companies will return calls.

I have been dealing with 5 star for over a year now, and it has been the WORST experience of my life. First, it took over 6 months for them to install the panels after we signed all of the loan paperwork. For the last 10 months, they have been on our roof and not ONCE have we received the credits that were due. I was told this system would cover 90-100% of our usage. So far, the MOST they have covered was about 50%. But MOST months, it is only 15-20%. This has become an extremely expensive headache for me to fix. 5 Star keeps telling me that their readings are showing in the 600-700 kwh range every month, but RMP is saying that it is only 100-300/month. No one can seem to understand my frustrations or want to help. And to make matters worse, EVERY SINGLE PERSON that I worked with to get the system set up is now gone from 5 Star Solar. So I am now trying to get people who have no idea what is going on to fix it. DO NOT BUY SOLAR PANELS FROM 5 STAR SOLAR!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!! YOU WILL REGRET EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
