***UPDATED REVIEW***Awaiting contact from the owner Justin. I will update my review once our system is completely corrected. The unit we purchased worked for about 6 months before constant issues began to pop up. Every 60 to 90 days gave us new and different problems some of which were eventually fixed (although not on the first attempt), including a drainage backup that flooded my attic space and caused drywall damage in three rooms. These things went on for the next 18 months. There wasn't a hot or cold season that went by without a complete shut down, each time we contacted the company who could not diagnose the system issue. To compensate we've purchased multiple portable space heaters and a backup window a/c to use in my 80+ year old parents room (who live with us). With impeccable timing, the unit began to regularly malfunction as soon as the 2 years installation warranty expired. The compressor itself has continued to get louder and louder. The solution for that, according to the tech who came out is to wait until it fails completely to replace it. I've now been waiting since May for a replacement part for my latest repair. Last July 2023, I sat in the attic with their technician Will and Dwight from American Standard and listened to them discuss the poor quality of the install, that the circuit board and dampers were installed incorrectly which had been putting a strain on the unit outside. The last we heard, they were ordering a part for the outside unit, would be waiting for the compressor to fail on its own, and when they were to return with the part, they would correct the mistake with the board and install new dampers correctly. Unfortunately, I've still heard nothing but crickets from the home office. It was mentioned that the American Standard representative would be putting a sound blanket over the compressor to suffocate the noise, but since he said the the reason the compressor was on its death bed was due to the strain the improper installation of the dampers, I feel we should have a new working compressor and not one we must wait until the least opportune time to die. ******Original Review Before the ISSUES***** I was very thorough when I set out to replace my 32 year old AC. I compared companies, based on advertising, recommendations, and and even a couple of trucks that I randomly passed while driving to work. 5 different companies across the spectrum. 4 of them were just trying to talk me into buying what they were selling. I went with Sun Tech because Jason wanted to teach me about whatever I was buying and why. Everyone else just assumed that because I had to replace a 32 year old unit that all they had to do is show up. Jason and Sun Tech earned my respect and my business. Best decision I ever made.
Last year Sun Tech replaced my AC compressor and was dispatched through my home warranty company OneGuard. They failed to secure the power wires to the compressor and one of them rubbed against the refrigerant pipes to the compressor eventually contacting with the conductor and burning a hole through it, purging the system. The tech that was sent from another company showed me this and advised OneGuard of the situation. OneGuard is covering the repair but I'm on the hook for the refrigerant, over $1000 out of pocket when I already had to pay that last year when the compressor was installed. Been living in a 100F house for days now because someone couldn't be arsed to spare a ziptie or two. *****FOLLOW-UP***** The folks at Sun Tech stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park making things right with me. They came out promptly once I brought the issue up to their attention. There were a few hiccups getting things back up and running due to the age of my system but Sun Tech got me up and running better than before even. The home warranty guys were terrible however, next time just skipping them and going straight to Sun Tech for my hvac needs.
We have used Sun Tech Air for over 4 years. José has been our technician. We just purchased a new A/C this week. José was awesome. He took care of everything. The installation went very smoothly. The new A/C unit made a huge difference in the comfort in our house. We highly recommend this company and especially José.
Jason and his team did a fabulous job. They knew what they were doing and had the job done in less than 4 hours. They were polite, cleaned up their mess and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend Sun Tech!
Service time and professionally handled my AC central to find any issues and technical advice to prevent damage or shortages of AC unit life. Also the technician it’s friendly.
Next review: Our old A/C unit failed during the hottest part of the Summer. SunTech techs Sammy and José are knowledgeable and thorough and they replaced it and upgraded our thermostats. Their work was professional at a competitive price. 5/5 First review: Technician Will is a true professional. He arrives as promised, explains what needs to be done and accomplishes it properly without delay. I recommend SunTech without hesitation. 5/5
What started off promising with Suntech only failed. Landmark home warranty assigned these peeps to me. The guy came out and diagnosed an issue, something I hadn’t heard of, what I thought was basic seemed to be some weird issue. But okay… then we waited and waited from out home warranty(not Suntech’s fault, well a couple days of it was, waiting for paperwork to be sent in to be authorized) and while waiting, and my wife and I calling the home warranty company and suntech over and over to get progress(AZ and 115 outside…100 inside) was only getting us more upset. So we decided to just call another company to get it done outside of warranty. This is when we got a completely different diagnosis that it was the blower motor…and was like.. that’s weird.) and then came the invoice from home warranty stating Suntech will be charging for 8lbs of Freon, which the other company said was totally fine. So we were confused and looked into it a bit more. We got a third diagnosis from a third company and they said it was the blower motor. So we sent the info to our warranty, who wouldn’t help us, saying we needed to go with Suntech. Suntech may be a great company that just poorly diagnosed our problem, but looking into reviews at landmark and Suntech, when these two work together, they get very bad reviews. Enough that we had a couple people say they’re scamming us to get more money(from the Freon) because they know landmark doesn’t pay for it and it’s a simple way to make money. I can’t say if that is true or not, but it definitely seems suspect. End of the day. We got a different company to fix our AC and spent less that what Suntech was going to charge us for Freon, and landmark would help. Took 14 days. (Again, timing is not suntechs fault, but our warranty co. Fault) Search reviews of Suntech and landmark to see for yourself, on BBB, Yelp and here. Their other reviews are good, so I’d say don’t use them if warranty company contracts them, maybe outside of that they are bomb.
