I received the Chapter 11, reorganization notice from the court. What happens to my 25 year warranty? I was a cash customer, no lease. Purchased through Freedom Solar of Texas. Please explain how SunPower can honor this. From what I'm reading it appears Maxeon is in financial trouble, too. There is a perceived value for 25 years of replacement parts and service. If we were to sell our home, the perceived value of not being able to offer remainder of promised warranty through transfer form(from SunPower) is no longer there. Secondly, I was promised 24/7 monitoring of PV production. That may be going away, too, if SunPower cannot successfully reorganize under Chapter 11 and remain liquid. What is my compensation?
Bought a system a couple years ago .Now it has an alert( one or more devices not operating properly) . Tried chat and got disconnected 3 times. Finally got someone and they said 2 panels aren't communicating. Seems inverter is out on 2 of them. They had me cycle power and now they say to wait 24 hours so they can monitor it. Observing a faulty system is not a fix. How can you get warranty work done now that Sunpower is in transition? Looks like I made a bad investment. Unbelievable!
please DO NOT do business with Sunpower Corporation. I had 15 solar panels installed. After 1 year 14 panels are NOT working. They should be covered under warranty- however 6 months later Sunpower has not fixed them. I call and am told someone will call me back- but no one ever does. They refuse to transfer call to management and they refuse to give case manager contact information. In addition- the case manager does NOT call back. This has been going on for 6 months. Meanwhile- I am paying higher utility rates. **DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SUNPOWER CORPORATION**
It appears as if this company is in the process of filling for bankruptcy. For homeowners that paid SunPower more on the basis of 25 or 30 years of service, SunPower and it's new owners would do well to make right and begin repairing old systems or offer new useful upgrades to the system, instead of walking away from thousands of clients who trusted the SunPower brand. My solar stopped working TWO YEARS AGO. Sunpower has STILL not resolved this issue as of present day (06/18/24). I’ve been assigned THREE different "Escalations Specialists" - specifically looking at you MICHAEL HAYES - none of which answer the phone or email, but promise to "get this over the finish line". This company is an absolute joke. They expect you to pay a monthly lease fee as part of your contract, but they don’t maintain their systems. Essentially - they demand I pay my monthly lease fee despite the fact my system has produced ZERO solar energy since July 2022. I can’t wait for all the emails and empty promises to hit the local media here in AZ. Avoid this place like the plague. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. UPDATE 08/13/24: With Sunpower’s recently announced SECOND Chapter 11 filing on August 1st, I’ve now been assured my solar service will not be restored - but rest assured I’m still expected to make my monthly lease payment via their new updated payment portal. I’ve waited over two years for my service to be restored, just to be ghosted by my "Escalation Specialist" on the heels of Sunpower’s bankruptcy filing…Customer service now tells me I need to check their website for updates, the status of my system ever being restored is unknown, and I’m indeed supposed to continue writing them a check each month. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somehow the worst customer service experience I have ever had to endure. Constant delays, weeks between contact replies, promises of investigation, review, analysis, etc without ever delivering anything. Do whatever you can to avoid SunPower systems. Update 5/12/24: Got a response after I left the review above, why it took a bad review to get that, who knows The issue we had with them was production and monitoring issues, they sent me an "analysis" showing my system was producing as expected, but the production numbers were completely different from what their own portal stated. Even worse was their analysis document had production numbers from multiple months my system had no monitoring at all. Prior emails from SunPower confirmed this as well. It really looks like they completely fabricated an analysis. If any news outlet wants the emails and documents showing this, I'll be happy to provide. Avoid this company at all costs.
The WORST customer service, partner management, and escalation process in a major company. I've had zero results resolving a problem through Sunpower, their Escalation Specialist who went silent, and their partner Alternative Energy in Arizona that seems incapable of getting parts to fix what they broke. System is still not 100% functional after 3 months. I've lost money all summer from solar panels offline. Nothing but finger pointing and no solution. Today I filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General against both companies. RESPONSE TO THEIR COMMENT: Don't believe their sugar coated response. They have done NOTHING over the past 2 months to resolve this. They assign people that do nothing. They sent a company that was quite competent and isolated the problems inserted by Alternative Energy but did not empower them to fix it. Rather than take ownership for their shortcoming in partner authorization and management, they handed it back to me with NO information on what to tell Alternative Energy. They refused to give me the troubleshooting information. When I pressed the Escalation Specialist (title only, no teeth to escalate) that person went silent. Comments are everything. They used to be good 2 or 3 years ago. Since going overseas, superior customer service does not exist. UPDATE 29 Aug 2023 Still nothing has been done. Still broken. They read emails and ignore them. Complaint against Sunpower and their partner Alternative Energy LLC Arizona has been filed with the Attorney General. UPDATE 3 Oct 2023 Nothing has changed. Still broken. Crickets from Sunpower.
