This is the best electric company I’ve ever worked with. They’re responsive and do outstanding work. My only complaint is when I forget to pay my bill, they send a cut off notice via regular mail. I spend extensive periods away from my house and don’t always get the mail. I would love to have them send me an email when they are about to cut my service. They send my bill via email so I don’t know why they can’t send the cut off notice as well. I always have email available to me. But I don’t always get my regular mail. When I asked about this last year, the woman I spoke with said regular mail is the only way they contact you when they are about to shut off service. So if you could change that, I’d really appreciate that.

A local monopoly that slaps a $400 deposit on your account if you have trouble paying, making it harder to then pay your next bills. Absolutely vile practice, I do not know how people actually struggling with bills can handle compensating this and I only saw it just because I don't auto-pay (like to see my bills) and am forgetful. Shame on them for doing this to the most vulnerable people. EDIT: They worked with me personally on this issue, so I've changed the stars. But I am still concerned for a poorer individual who gets hit with this. They are exempt from § 366.05(1)(c) which meant this deposit was over 3 times my monthly bill (services are usually restricted to no more than 2 times a bill).

I'm highly unsatisfied I had prepaid account with this company that I l liked after a few years this company changed my account to a regular account charge me a $700 deposit I could only pay half of my deposit within 2 weeks i was disconnected and sent a final bill 156.00 so where did my 350 go because if had a final bill of 156.00 that means I paid 500 for 2 weeks of service . Then I still had to pay a another 809.00 deposit and still don't have electricity. Ok feel like this is a Monopoly becase there is no one else to go too for service.

Horrid customer service. They at least provide power and their line men are great, but they are very unreliable my power goes out almost every day especially during the summer. Their billing system and app payment method sucks and never works. They will also charge you over $800 dollars if your late even if it was their technician that messed up and turn your power off. They suck they know it, but they also know they are the only game around.

My mother has stolen my identity twice in my life first time when I aged out of foster care, had a lady named Mindy at Tallahassee office helped me dispute it in 2004, i had to dispute that I did not buy a washer and drawer in 1992, Lol,Yeah on that elementary schooler salary,Right? When my estrangement mother passed in 2020, i found out she had accounts with Fingerhut, Xfinity and Tauquin electric in my name.. After a year i'm disputing all of these on my credit, proving residence in Wyoming and the fact that I hadn't been to Florida in over 10 years, but still own property there.... Only Talquin was still on my credit. I had to talking to one of the biggest "Richard Cranium" trying to get copies of the of the documents that were signed when they allowed this to be cut on,And how this was allowed...His reply was that "They had to have a SS# or ID or the person there, plus their signatures on the document".Also, my mom was dark-haired 5'4 heavy set, while I'm a natural redhead 5'10 fit built, Plus I had been married at this time for over 6 years, and the account was in my maiden name...So how would she use one if my old ID "when I told him I was trying to dispute this several times and even showed proof that I was at work in Wyoming in The Teton National Park on the day of the start of service, so there was no way I could have signed it, he had the audacity to ask me, "Why didn't I just pay it? Y'all had paid it for over 2 years with no problem until hurricane Michael hit" Again,I had to tell him I had not paid them a scent since 2006,And wouldn't pay them for this,Somehow we got disconnected, lol,Even given them my mailing address to send me these documents, Never get them,But get a bill here.. I am still disputing this on my credit today, Would still love to have those documents sent to me.

I'm not one to write reviews, but felt prompted to do so considering my entire experience since having Talquin "Service." Not only does the power go out even when it lightly rains, but expecting the power to be repaired promptly is a pipedream. Any time there is a moderate/major storm I can automatically presume to go without power for a minimum of 48 hours, if a storm occurs close enough to the weekend (Thursday or Friday) then I can safely expect to be without power until the weekend is over. I have been given zero reasons to expect to talk to an operator on weekends. Much less anyone who actually knows restoration progress when I do manage to speak to someone. When asked why I don't receive updates on restoration or any occurring progress I was actually told that "customers don't want to be sent updates through text." This left me dumbfounded and in utter disbelief hearing such a thing. When challenged on this, the Talquin Employee was audibly frustrated and told me I was incorrect when claiming customers want updates. Explaining how going without them gives the impression no work is being done had no effect on them. Can't even go to the outage map because it is not promptly updated either. So between the operators not knowing anything, no text updates, and infrequently updated outage map your guess would be good as mine when power gets restored after an outage. At the recommendation of the operator I signed up for two different text notifications for when an outage will undoubtedly occur again, as I was told the burden to receive such updates are actually on the customer. So far after Helene I have received zero updates. If I had any other option for an Electric Company I would use them instead, but where I live on the periphery of Tallahassee City Limits I'm stuck with Talquin. My hope in writing this review is not for Talquin to contact me, because at this point through their actions they have proven time and time again they will not change. This is a company cultural issue which undoubtedly starts at ownership and trickles down to everyone as a collective failure. What I hope to accomplish is for anyone reading this and has a choice between Talquin and a Competitor is to use the Competitor instead.

My wife and I are in our 80s and have paid our bill on time for years and donate each month for people who have trouble paying their bills. They shut our electricity off today in cold weather with no warning. I mailed Talquin check with three other checks that were cashed. The mail lost my check. It is not fair. Need to send warning out.
