Browsed around for a few different wines, beers, and other spirits. There is plenty of variety here to choose from across the world and locally too. The selection is very vast and there are also some small necessities too like bottle stoppers, cups, and other miscellaneous items that work well with the drinks. They do offer samples as well but bring your ID as they require that to sample and purchase. When you are at the register, they card everyone to make sure you are all of legal drinking age. In the back of the store is also an experience room where people can attend a course about certain wines and other interesting cultural spirit topics. Parking here is quite busy so you will have to look around for spaces in their shared parking lot.
They have so much wine here and so much more like snacks and wine gift bags. The staff are always knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. Free parking in back or the street. In the heart of downtown Pasadena with all the nice stores. Beautiful area. They also have wine tastings for $20 and also classes to teach you about wines. They also had posters on what could be a good pairing situation with wines and foods.
I made my usual purchase of 4 Bombay Sapphires (1.75 liters) in June. 3 of the 4 bottles turned out to be cheap vodka. Some production glitch. I saved the bottles and returned today to pick up my new order. I assumed management would refund without hassle. Nope. Ryan was the manager. He seemed to doubt my story from the start. I explained that I'd never had a problem with any earlier purchases. I'd never tried to return any product in the last 7 yrs or so. Still he was skeptical. I also explained that I didn't know their return procedures. I didn't think they'd want me to bring in nearly full bottles. After discovering one bottle was bad, was I supposed to open every bottle to check it, and then pack up and bring in the bad bottles? What would be the point? Did they really need to taste/smell the contents? If they did and discovered what I was telling them was TRUE, then what? I know what Bombay tastes like. This was not Bombay Sapphire. It was cheap vodka without the gin herbs. Unfit to consume AS what I paid for, Bombay Sapphire. And I didn't intend to buy cheap vodka. Ryan the manager finally offered me 25% off. That's about $7 off for each $26 bottle. That means I'd have to pay $57 for 3 bottles of cheap vodka. I said that wasn't good enough. I said I wanted a complete refund. I can buy cheap 1.75 liter vodkas for $11. If I wanted cheap vodka, I'd had bought that. I paid $26 per bottle for Bombay Sapphire. Ryan the mgr said I was being "unreasonable". But he never offered a rationale for why his offer was fair but mine was not. I was not told exactly what their return policy is and whether and why my return attempt violated it. And where exactly is this return policy stated? Ryan's offer appeared arbitrary. I'm frustrated, angry and disgusted with this customer service. I never expected such resistance to a simple return of a clearly defective product. At other online and brick & morter retailers I use, there's never a hassle returning defective products. So on top of what I lost by being sold a defective product, I have to deal with what's become an extended hassle and aggravation. I also don't like having my honesty questioned without ANY reason. My word should have been enough. And mostly, I don't like not getting what I paid for: I paid for Bombay Sapphire gin not cheap vodka. What Ryan should have done is replaced or refunded those 3 bottles w/out question. Total Wines can deal with the producer to get their money back. I'm sure an entire batch was not properly "seasoned" and many bottles have been returned at this and other retailers. The batch# is on each bottle. Why create a hassle for your customers? I will definitely NOT be going to Pasadena Total Wines ever again unless they change their minds and fully refund my money. BevMo here I come! Update: I called customer service and they refused to even consider evaluating or over-riding the judgment of the mgr. Why not tell me that upfront on your already over-long phone message instead of wasting my time on hold and creating more aggravation?
Impressive! It’s the biggest Total Wine Store I have ever been in. Well organized, great customer service, and every choice of alcohol imaginable. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. The are also nicknacks (food, soda, etc.) available as well. The prices were very reasonable, I expect higher cost as it California.
Went here in preparation for a party. The selection and size is overwhelming! It can be a lot for casual hostesses and non drinkers like myself, but I can see the appeal. If you need something for say a cocktail recipe, they have all the obscure spirits/ingredients and then some. The wine collection spans the globe and at all price ranges. The membership program does not start with immediate benefits but can definitely be worth it for regular consumers. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, which ultimately helped my preparations. Enjoy responsibly, cheers!
The Pasadena location has easy parking and wide easy to maneuver aisles. Using the app, the item I wanted looked to be in stock, but was no where to be found on the shelf. An employee helped me to locate it still boxed in storage above the shelves. Why they don’t restock , I don’t know. But other than that the selection was good and the staff was friendly and happy to help with suggestions, recommendations and fun facts. I give them bonus points for the fact that the app on my phone actually had an accurate count of the stock on hand.
A Costco-sized selection of wine, beer, spirits, mixers and yes - even mead. As impressive as the store was, I can’t help but dock it one star. Here’s why: It was my first time visiting the store as I placed an order specifically for their last two bottles of Hard to find 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. I drove 1/2hr out of my way only to find that once I picked up my online order, they had switched it for two 1.5L bottles of a 2019. They didn’t bother to tell me - so I could have gotten home only to find then if their mistake. Thankfully I checked it in store, when the associate only then decided to tell me it was a "stocking error" why they didn’t even have the 2015. Needless to say, I immediately returned both of them. Not a great look and left a bad impression. I sincerely hope the next customer doesn’t experience the same.
