@1048 pm self checkout cashier and backed up by mngmnt denied us from having our own separate transactions my gf 7 items and me 6 and said we were only allowed 1 transaction as if we are not 2 separate individuals... they extremely rude to us and basically told us to not come back. we have been coming there (North Towne WinCo) forever 25 years. we will never shop there again... we were treated like trash! by the management and the self checkout cashier!
Great prices on lunch meat. The down side was getting the presided meat, which went bad quickly. I would recommend always having it cut fresh. Good prices on k-cups and fruits and veggies.
NORTH TOWN WINCO IS MY FAVORITE! I WORK NIGHT SHIFTS, AND APPRECIATE HAVING THE OPTION TO SHOP AFTER WORK. RENO WAS A 24HR TOWN, AND UNFORTUNATELY, WINCO IS 1 OF THE FEW PLACES STILL 24HRS! WINCO ALSO OFFERS ON GOING DEALS ( CHECK FOR GREEN TAGGED ITEMS) . ONE OF MY BEST BUYS THERE WAS A FEW MONTHS AGO I FOUND A NAME BRAND CONDITIONER FOR 47 CENTS!! ASIDE FROM AVAILABLITY, GREAT DEALS, & GOOD PRODUCE, MOST OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE GENUINELY DECENT PEOPLE. PEOPLE SEEM TO WORK THERE LONG TERM, SO I ASSUME THE COMPANY TREATS THEM WELL. SUPER SHOUT OUT TO MARIA ( MY FAVORITE CASHIER), RUBY ( SHES IN STOCKING NOW, SHE MUST BE TOO GOOD AT THE REGISTER!):& THE SUPER SWEET GUY THAT RUNS THE FORKLIFT. EACH OF YOUR KINDNESS HAS ELEVATED MY DAY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS! THANK YOU. I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THIS WINCO LOCATION FOR ALL OF THESE GREAT REASONS.
Excellent source of inexpensive foods, fruits and vegetables too!!! Their Bulk Section is Awesome!!! The freshly ground peanut butter and cashew butter and others are awesome!!! They have everything you need all in one place and they have some extremely low prices which they post on their signs with their competitors prices listed below which is a great way of getting the best value for your money!!!
I used to think Costco was my favorite "big box" store, when I still lived in the Bay. Since coming to Reno in 2017, Winco is my go to for my favorite double French Roast ♡ I used to love San Francisco Bay French Roast - I still do. They are both far superior to Starbucks, I highly recommend to people who have a palate for Pete's. It's half the price, plus you can fresh grind at whatever size you prefer (auto drip to Turkish coffee)! You may never go back, like me. Winco's also has an on-site bakery that produces really good baked goods from giant bags of "rolls" that are sandwich baguettes, a nice variety of good sized bagels, giant heat and serve garlic bread, even chunky, loaded granola. My favorite things at Winco besides the habit forming coffee and giant tubs of Haagen Dazs ice cream (their generic vanilla bean is just like it), is their fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter and their vast bin section! Every item I've decided to try; walnuts, cashews, rosemary, garlic powder, baking soda, bread flower, cake flower, coconut flour, large egg noodles, large elbows, split peas and black licorice have been fresh and better quality than I expected. Yes, sometimes bagging giant carts can be stressful and sometimes the lines seem insurmountable. But when you double take your total cost and after your fridge and cabinets are happily bursting at the hinges, you might think of this review and thank me.
This Winco has terrible customer service. Self checkout specifically. I use my own reusable nylon bag with a small zippered pouch on front big enough to hold a my key maybe a cell phone. I use this bag to save on plastic. Well I found out if you use your own bag at Winco they will search all pockets of said bag. I kid you not, I set my bag down on the scale and the computer said "please wait while we verify it’s a bag" That means the employee comes over and sees it’s a bag and not groceries. This employee grabbed my bag and started to unzip the front pocket to look inside. He then started to squish the bottom of the bag and inspect it. I felt like I was dealing with TSA at the airport. I literally thought he was going to ask me to lift my arms for a pat. I was halfway waiting for everyone to start laughing and say was going to be on YouTube. When I realized it was real I asked him "what are you doing" he said "making sure there is no items in your bag." I was confused and did know what set me back more, the fact he just searched my bag like the police or that was was marked as a theft and he felt the need to search my things. Fast forward today! 8:00am I know now not to bring a bag into Winco anymore so I don’t however I stroll up to self checkout a different employee stops my and said "you have more then 10 items in your cart, you can’t checkout here." I looked down and counted my items in front of her and she was right I had 12 items. I then looked around and not a single customer was at self checkout. I said " theres no one here?" She said "you have more then 12 items. you can’t check out here." I chuckled and said "I just counted 12 items in front of you" and I walked over to a checker. She was right that I had more than 10 items so she smacked me with the rule book. I’d like to add that Winco had 6 checker lanes open and out of the six lanes two of those had no one inline and only one customer at the other four to give context to how busy it was at the time this happened.
Prices are good but lines are consistently so long (due to keeping the minimal number of registers open as possible) your frozen goods will be a puddle by the time you make it to the register. As I write this, I have genuinely been in line for 20 minutes and am only half way to the register.
