We had a private tour for a corporate group of 17 adults in late September. From start to finish, it was an A+ experience. The booking process was incredibly easy and transparent. Brad, Chance and Eli were our tour guides for the day and it far surpassed our expectations. After we checked in, we did a safety tutorial, were fitted with life jackets, locked up our personal belongings, and we were on our way. Each guide worked together at the front, middle and back with our entire group. They were so patient as we had varying levels of proficiency. With their guidance, our entire group did beautifully (and enjoyed it)! It was a picture perfect day out on the water. We loved learning about the history of Detroit. Brad is an exceptional docent! It truly was a highlight of our trip and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Detroit.

We had a great experience kayaking the canals. It was my daughter's first time kayaking and she really enjoyed it. Our guide had a lot of great knowledge about the history of the city and made sure everyone was comfortable during the trip. I would definitely recommend booking a trip with this company.

This was a great kayaking experience through the canals and Detroit River. The guides were informative and friendly. There was a lot of paddling, but worth it to see the sights. A great 2 hour adventure.

What to expect: My wife and I went for the first time on the sunset canal tour. We arrived a little early and found that we would be going with a group of about 12. They had a basket in the building for us to lock up our belongings such as wallets and car keys. There were thankfully clean restrooms for us to use after driving about 45 minutes to the place. Especially before a 2 hour kayak trip. There were two employees who guided the group. The guides gave us life jackets and paddles and gave us a quick tutorial on how to navigate a kayak etc. With the help of the guides we individually boarded the kayaks which requires a large step down off a dock so I would not recommend for the overweight or physically fragile. Once we all boarded we paddled down a canal out to the Detroit River and then down to another connecting canal. The water on the river was a little choppy that day but that made it fun. Several beginners in our group managed it easily. We went by many homes, past a couple nature parks and under a handful of bridges. Some homes kept up nicely and others showing evidence of urban decay. We had waterproof, floatation covers on lanyards for our phones so we were able to snap photos and quick videos along the way. Our knowledgable guides stopped us at a few spots teaching us about historical sites such as the Purple Gang house during prohibition and the Fox Indian Massacre. We were far up stream from the city, and Belle Isle starting out on the border of Grosse Pointe Farms so the city was close enough for a beautiful sunset but not as close as I initially thought it would be. Expect to get wet. My shorts were soaked when we were done. All in all it was a wonderful experience and something I would definitely recommend!!!

We took a tour with Detroit River Sports as one of the activities on our company's offsite and had the best time! This was definitely my favorite part of the trip. The tour was so much fun. The tour guides were super knowledgeable and gave a really interesting history of Detroit, going into lots of details on the prohibition and bootlegging around Millionaire's row. Plus they did a really great job of pacing the kayaking and making sure the members of our team who had never kayaked were comfortable and safe. I would highly recommend doing this if you are in Detroit and definitely take a tour with Detroit River Sports! They were so nice and made the activity really fun for everyone.
