Our fair state (Land of Lincoln) has numerous, well•maintained campgrounds and hiking trails (many are dog friendly) that will suit even the most seasoned outdoors people. It’s a great way to get out and breathe fresh air, while taking in all that Mother Nature has to offer!

Had about 3-4 different conversations with different people. Just needed help with my fishing license. Every person I talked to was incredibly helpful, and nice. Figured it all out and sent me on my way. Great customer service!

As usually, Giant City State Park is a beautiful place to come and stay. However I just had a very negative interaction with a guy by the name of Mike that sits behind the desk at the lodge. I saw a picture of Donald Trump on the wall and struck up a conversation with him, stating that it may not be appropriate to have such a picture in this current political climate. Understand it was not an official presidential picture or anything of the sort, just some pic of Trump with Rep. Mike Voss. I asked where the pics of Governor Pritzker were and he said and I quote "the guy has never been here so I don’t have a picture of him." I ask him if Trump had ever been at the lodge and he said no. I then asked "so why is his picture on the wall"? He said you must be a Democrat and I’m sorry this picture "is a trigger" for me! I was blown away by the arrogance of this guy! I stated this is a State of Illinois facility and it just doesn’t seem right to have Trumps picture on the wall without at least having a pic of the Illinois Governor. So….based on this interaction, my wife and I won’t be staying here any more going forward. There are a lot of places around Illinois that we can choose from to stay when we enjoy Giant City State Park. My advise is……..if you are at all concerned politically or don’t wish to support such negativity don’t put your hard earned money into this concessionaire.

They need to fire whoever programmed the website. It is impossible to buy a fishing license online. I’d be embarrassed if that was my website.

Tried calling to ask for information on lake vermillion and the vermillion river. They gave me the phone number to what I thought to be lake vermillion. The number was for lake vermillion, Minnesota. What a joke.
