So I have paid my bill online everything during a years long relationship with duke energy. I've been I'll for the last week and was 10 days late and recieved a notice to disconnect. I escalated the call to a supervisor, then to the Public service commission and finally got a call from a corporate customer service rep who proceeded to apologize, and asked what I would like her to do. I said well maybe if you tell me you are currently not disconnecting peoples power during a heatwave perhaps not send a disconnect notice during a heatwave!!!! Also she said the customer service person should have worked with me and have given me and extension. No kidding, how about don't disconnect people for being 10 days late. I suppose if you have a monopoly you can treat consumers however you want to. My day was absolutely ruined forced to pay up or get disconnected. I'm beyond unhappy, and until my voice is heard and an adequate apology is issued, I will move heaven and Hell to let consumers know that they are bullies and treat good paying consumers like crap during the worst days of there lives. Sick people
I stand behind the City of St Petersburg to regulate their own power grid. Came home today to a line down just sat over my fence which turned out to be my Spectrum Internet line. Called Spectrum who was more responsive. Next call was to Duke to ask for a reason why am Internet cable needed to be cut down - was put on hold for over an hour and still can't give a reason why. Worst customer service ever. Time to say goodbye to Duke.
Cut off my power today in a "planned outage" without letting me. For this planned outage, they also parked in my driveway in the alley, and have the alley blocked on both sides with two lift trucks. No call, door knock, etc to let me know I’d be blocked in without power for 5 hours. Level of professional I’ve grown to expect from Duke. Must be nice being a monopoly.
Go to the Consumer Affairs page read the reviews!!! There are literally THOUSANDS of us telling our stories about how we were completely ripped off including myself. They sold me a five dollar a month insurance for my electronics. And then lightning came through my window all of my electronics. They lied to me. They told me that I had to go to Best Buy and they would test it to make sure that it was actually from lightning. I went to Best Buy and they didn’t know what I was talking about. The manager finally came to me and said that Duke Energy has been telling hundreds of people that. And they said that the fact is, they don’t do that. They have absolutely no relationship whatsoever, so then when I called Duke Energy back they came up with this stupid loophole. It didn’t even make sense. So I paid five dollars a month for electronics insurance for like three years. This is how they. Every single day
Title: Duke Energy's Assistance Program is Inaccessible and Frustrating As a Navy veteran who has been job searching since November 2023 and exhausted my emergency fund, I’ve been trying to access Duke Energy’s "Share the Light Fund" for financial assistance in Orange County, Florida. I’m currently pregnant and have received multiple disconnection notices, but every time I try to apply for this program, I’m met with capacity limits. Despite reaching out to Duke Energy and 211, I’ve been given the same information with no real help. I feel Duke Energy’s promotion of this assistance program is misleading, and they need to improve accessibility for customers in need.
I have been completely scammed by Duke Energy. I recently made the mistake of signing up for the shared solar program, which in itself was incredibly confusing to navigate. There's no department phone line for shared solar, so the only way to get information was speaking with people from other departments in Duke, who were not experts, but who came to the same conclusion as I did, that you could help support clean energy and perhaps save a few dollars on your bill. Well I was so wrong. For the past few months, I've been getting charged $100 extra a month for shared solar fees. Nothing else has changed on my bill. I'm just giving Duke extra of my hard earned money for the hell of it. I've been calling for over a month, trying to cancel my shared solar subscription and to see about reimbursement. Nobody ever seems to know how to help and since there's no phone line for that department, all they can do is give me an email address, to which no one responds to after emailing for over a month. Finally I spoke to someone today, asking why on earth anyone would pay for shared solar and see nothing in return, and they said "well that's the program". I begged them to please just tell me, is there any benefit to being on shared solar. Their answer, to my shock, was that there was no benefit and that employees from Duke even raised these concerns when the program was established. So there you have it, DUKE just scammed me out of my own money. I feel so taken advantage of and I hope nobody makes this same mistake.
I needed permanent power. It was supposed to be turned on a week ago. I spoke to them every day for a week and they all told me different things. They don't know what they are doing. I called for emergency service because I needed power turned on. They told me the temporary pole out back has power. How am I supposed to turn my ac on then? It doesn't plug in. They hung up on me after 50 minutes on the phone. It is supposed to take max 3 days to turn on... it's been 2 weeks
