I've shopped here a number of times over the years and their selection stands out as does the staff. Particularly good place for harder to find stuff that the big box store might not even carry. However, today's review is really about 2 guys working there around 2pm 10/21/25. Management take note. I had car issues and was across the street AT the traffic light trying to start the car. In my worried mind I neglected to get these two guys names but I hope management can determine who by the time it happened. Anyway, the one guy saw me, went in and got another guy and they pushed me a full city block so I could park out of traffic. To make my luck even better apparently one of their store contractors was across the street and offered to jump my battery! Got me going and made it home! Lol, trouble to follow with the car I'm certain but Kudos to all three of those gentlemen who went out of their way to help a total stranger. I'll stop by sometime and thank them in person (again). My experience is that the type of people like I've mentioned are working in the hardware store so your unlikely to get attitude or just lame workers when you go in to find something and, of course, your keeping a hardware store local to Old Town with your business.
I purchased an order online to be delivered in store. I went to the store with my cell phone, with the email from Ace hardware. Got there and told them that I had the order number. They asked me for my name. I gave them my last name and a complete description of the four items I was purchased. Someone retrieved the 4 items, brought them up to me, and told me that it was not under the correct name. He told me that it was under the name Tara. And I confirmed that was my first name. He then asked me for my license telling me that he could not give me the items because the name that I gave didn't match the name that I initially provided even though I had my cell phone with the order in my hand that I was trying to show him. I then had to walk all the way back to my car in 98° heat outside to get my license so that I can retrieve my products. Not happy whatsoever. But it gets better.... When got back in the store, I showed him my ID, he didn't even look at it. The individual kept on telling me it was Ace Hardware Stores policy. Common sense has no place at this store. Nor does respect. . Don't bother going unless you seek a completelty unnecessary headache. My verbal full description of the items, me providing the order number, AND showing the email from Ace Hardware addressed to me.... with my full name... , all should have been more than sufficient. Absolutely disgusted at how I was just treated.
My visit was the middle of the day.The middle of the week, with plenty of workers there. After inquiring about a grill for traveling. I was not able to get anyone to assist with opening a box to look at a grill that was boxed and up high. Terry, was asked to assist with getting a box down and opening it.And he was quite reluctant to assist. And had a smart mouth on him that slapped the box and said, what do you need to know that the box doesn't already have on it. Then, he proceeded to try and be funny by saying that he doesn't speak french.Since there was french wording on the box and tried to make a fun comment about that. The whole time i'm thinking that my lunch hour is trickling down without help. After his little behavior and show, I went ahead and said, you know what? Forget it.Thank you for your time, and I turned to leave and then he started falling over himself to offer all kinds of assistance that he was not offering minutes before. I will not be back to this location. And I will make sure that my family does not use this location either.
It is a sprawling, but well stocked local hardware store. I needed n multiple items for my sons from room - waste basket, step stool, dust buster, etc. they had it all. Staff was very helpful. Parking easy on street.
Every time I go to this store the employees are very nice and helpful. I never see them get discouraged with any of their customers or with me when I ask a lot of questions. There is a wide variety of products sold here, and I could be in this store forever, just looking around.
Take a step back in time to a place where the hardware store dispenses excellent advice. They have the parts to keep your project on track. I was repairing an old Sears file cabinet and needed a spring. Not just any spring. They helped me find what I needed and I was most appreciative. Love this place.
Had a very good experience with Jeff in the paint department. He went out of his way to help another customer put together a shopping cart and helped me with a custom paint match, all while being very helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. Shout out to a great employee
