Wiygul Automotive Clinic of Alexandria, VA | Lane Drive

I have been going to this location for 2 years and have consistently had excellent customer service. They perform the work diligently, efficiently and are very friendly. I like that I have the option to wait in the lobby, get an Uber ride home (on their dime) or have them come to my house to get my car. They also email and snail mail plenty of coupons, which I always redeem. For my last visit, the safety inspection and emissions test was going to cost $50 total but I only had to pay $28 with the coupon. Another time I had a 45k mile maintenance visit. On that occasion, I went home while they performed the maintenance. They texted me with a list of repairs and indicated which were required and which were just optional recommendations. It included the price and photos. I then had the opportunity to do some research and figure out which ones I wanted them to do. Really appreciated the ability to take some time to do the research and make a decision.

I am very disappointed with my recent visit. I came in for a simple oil change, and it took 1 hour and 30 minutes, which was already frustrating considering there weren’t many customers waiting. What upset me the most, however, was what happened afterward. The next day, my car was not performing normally it struggled to go uphill, the steering wheel pulled side to side, and on the highway I couldn’t maintain speed without pressing the gas hard. When I checked, I discovered that my tire pressure had been set to 50 psi, even though the factory recommendation is 36 psi. This is a serious safety concern. Overinflated tires can cause poor handling, high fuel consumption, and even risk a blowout something I should never have to worry about after professional service, especially with brand new tires. I am very upset that such negligence happened at a certified shop. Out of respect for customers and their safety, I strongly urge to ensure technicians carefully follow factory recommendations and pay closer attention to detail.

***UPDATE October 2025*** I received a call from Dave at Wiygul Waldorf, who responded to my review and complaint. He took the time to actually listen, provide a solution and personally coordinate a re-inspection of my car and the recommended service post-inspection. While I understand that mistakes can happen, I did not get that understanding from the Lane location during my original visit. I am updating this review as a result of Dave's professionalism in addressing the issue with transparency and clear communication. Dave not only ensured my car was properly re-inspected at the Pickett St. location, which is my primary store, but also resolved the issue amicably. **Old Review** After taking my car faithfully to Wiygul for about 2yrs to get my oil change service, I was informed by VW recently that an engine oil valve was malfunctioning. . . which should have been properly addressed during my visits at Wiygul. When I returned to Wiygul, instead of taking responsibility, I was told that they could not diagnosis the problem. Despite clear signs that something was wrong in the photos of the leakage in the undercarriage, VW's printed report with the check engine codes, and their own inspection after having my car for the weekend. Not to mention, I profusely explained the issue to John the service rep over 6x as he nonchalantly acted as if he'd forgotten why I was there and disregarded anything I said having to have me resend and repeat documents on what the issue was. William the manager insisted that there was no check engine light code that their $9000k machine could pull and that VW deleted it completely and they were "unsure" where the leak was coming from and if the recommended services would even fix the issue. Within less than 5 miles after leaving the store check engine light that they claimed their machine was unable to read, came right back on. Dissatisfied and distrustful of them I took my car elsewhere...due to Wiygul's unprofessionalism and lack of accountability... I won’t be returning to this location*, I have filed complaints, and I strongly advise others to double-check their work before leaving the shop if you have an issue.

After I got the recommended service at this location the brake light lit up and the brake stopped working. I have been a wiygul customer for a while until today I had positive experience. After I posted the review, they fixed the problem and have decided to return as a customer and upgrade the 1 star I gave them to a 4 star.

The Lane Dr. location is so lovely! They’re always so helpful and will get you in same day. I showed up 30 minutes early and said I was in no rush and they had my inspection completed before my actual appointment start time!

I have been a customer of Lane street location for 18 years. I believe that says itself how I trust them. Employees change but I always had the best experience customer service with this location vs. the other locations. I like the way Wiygul checks and gives list of the possible repair references.

Lack of customer support and clear communication. I called to see if an appointment was needed for an oil change. When I was told that it's better to make an appointment, I asked if there was availability within the hour. I was told yes. When I came by, they told me I don't have an appointment and that it was actually considered a same day drop off. There was not a willingness to help resolve the issue. Instead, they emphasized that my car would not be taken care of until after all other appointments were done for the day, and that my pick up time would be about 5 hours after drop off time. While I have deep respect the service industry, I'm disappointed to have had such lack of support and willingness to consider possible misunderstandings and miscommunication. I'm more disappointed in the lack of partnership in helping to resolve a situation.
