I asked my husband to stop by to get two different replacement rubber washers for a p-trap and I gave him both of the washers that needed to be replaced. He gets there and asks for help and the man that helped him immediately picked out one of the rubber washers needed. My husband then asks for help finding the second one to which the employee responds by telling him he "doesn't need that one". My husband tells him that he does need the other one and receives yet another "you don't need that". My husband asks the guy at least five times for help finding the second washer and get the same response every time. By this point he is pretty frazzled and just buys the first one. So now I'm unable to nthe p-trap because the single washer that my husband was "allowed" to purchase does not prevent the leaking as both ends of the pipe need to be sealed. This is how it was originally installed. Why in the world would a customer be refused help when desperately asked for? Why would an employee essentially prevent a customer from making a purchase?
Overpriced, poor hours, and don't ever try to return anything or they might nit-pick every little detail and insinuate you are a liar like they did to me. Much better to shop at Home Depot where returns are super easy and selection and hours are amazing - Home Depot is worth the drive!
Love an old-school hardware store. Pretty big selection all things considered, helpful staff, and you can still get that random washer or whatever for a a buck or less. Or save yourself 45 minutes to get a couple 2x4s or whatever, well worth it.
Have been looking for Lifoam Styrofoam Coolers all over town, clicked on this little hardware store, and their website says 10 in stock, so I called to verify before taking a drive The Associate informed me they do not sell Need to Update Your Website
As a building professional who has worked in Eugene for over 20 years, I would totally skip this place if it weren’t for the convenient location for my clients. Most things are overpriced and they have, hands down, the rudest, grumpiest and most smug employees of any business in town. Usually this is a reflection of the owners, but I’ll withhold that judgement since I’ve never met them. My last encounter involved profanity from an older female employee, after she bothered to get off of her phone at the register to ring me up. The employees could learn a thing or two from other locally owned businesses like Dari Mart, BiMart, Jerry’s, Les Schwab, etc, who consistently have the nicest employees and best customer service in Lane county.
Very cool store . You can find absolutely anything and everything. People very friendly and love to help.
The staff of True Value Hardware provided valuable support to our daughter's move from Eugene to Colorado on August 18, 2024. They provided the many needed packing materials so urgently needed. Their generosity is ever so greatly appreciated. What a wonderful expression of service to the community. The hardware store itself is far more impressive than any of the big box stores. HUGE benefit to the city of Eugene.
