They up the bills every year and this year it seems to have been to pay for their bloated website when it was fine before. I despise the donate option on the website version. There's no alternative so we're stuck with this. The online bill payment glitched and took $400. Had to go through SELCO to get it charged back. Then it took them two weeks to get the balance I owed back onto my account. No offers for anything for their mess up and no help from customer service
I'm gonna be brutally honest, absolutely terrible. Throughout my entire 15 year existence, I have never experienced such a scummy water & electricity company. My parents have had way too much trouble with EWEB to be considered an even remotely decent company. Hours of being on hold just to essentially be told to shove it up there and deal with it when we have money, and we barely scrape by.
Positively the worst utility company I've ever had to use. Having a monopoly makes it easy for a company (even as a city utility) to treat their customers with disrespect. What can you do if you have no other choice for utilities? EWEB is not responsible if THEIR METERS (digital SMART) explode, catch fire and/or fail. Good luck getting your homeowners insurance to pay for repair or replacement.
I received a "Courtesy Notice: High Water Usage" on my front door on 9-19-23. The date of the meter reading on the notice was 9-15-23. They were nice enough to give me notice about my high water usage caused by a water leak, but decided to inform me of it 4 days later. However they failed to mention the water leak was right after the water meter. I did some investigating and found the water meter submerged in water, something the meter reader failed to make note on. I called EWEB and told them there was a leak right at the meter. They sent someone out to look at it and gave me no updates. I called them back and said that the leak was on their side of the meter and would fix it when they get around to it. Turns out the leak was on my side of the system hence the large consumption of water being read through the meter. Pretty dishonest company if you ask me. Their prices are already outrageous and even worse when they lie straight to your face.
.001 stars no 24/7 customer service for anything when half technology needs that in this day and age i want to set up service got an account number but cant set up an account why????
Waited over two hours on hold to pay a bill that EWEB messed up and sent to me instead of my tenants. They have tried for two months to fix it and EWEB can NOT get it corrected. His account still says he owes ZERO! This is totally unprofessional, disrespectful and inappropriate. But they don't care they are our ONLY choice. IF we had choices then companies would be more about customer service and less about money!
Had a tough spot with a landlord/roommate not paying the power when I had been paying them and they left the house to stay elsewhere the moment the power got shut off. I called and explained my situation to customer service and asked if I could put power in my name starting from then for a month before I found a new place to go and they set me up with power... And also charged me everything the landlord had not paid, without explaining that this would be the end result. I complained and management did not care, the recording of the phone call reflected the same as I have explained prior in this note. Scandalous, not transparent, not about the customer but about their pockets. Be very careful and get what you can in writing.
