This place is awesome. Every time I go in there for something I get the most excellent service. This past Saturday I went in with a fuse issue on a medical device I needed fixed and Ian and John both gave me excellent advice that solved my issue. Ian and John are excellent employees! Amazing service!! Update: The owner, Greg is so helpful & his full time person, Jason, is my go-to for all things hardware! This is the place for all things hardware!

Hours show open til 5 online went all the way there only to find they closed at 4. Seems awfully early to close on a Saturday.

The review is long overdue. Isthmus Hardware comes through for us every time. Most recently: During move-out weekend, they were the only store with the correct size stovetop drip pans. They had plenty in stock because they’re smart and stock up in August for the flurry. Then, a month later, I needed a copy of the receipt to prove to the management company that the drip pans really had been replaced. Greg was able to find the transaction and emailed a copy in about five minutes. Super friendly, down-to-earth people! Great experience each time I shop there. A-plus-plus, five stars, two thumbs up, highly recommend.

I really love this hardware store. They go above and beyond in helping you think through projects and get the right materials. I was helped by I think Ian and John on a project about my poor bookends. They were so great! The best from the best hardware store! And great selection of items too

Went in looking for a couple of things and they helped me find what I needed in just seconds. They had a great selection to look from as well. It’s hard to find gardening supplies like potting soil and plant food downtown, but I was thrilled to see they have some. I’m so happy that downtown now has a hardware store that is as helpful and affordable as they are!

Isthmus Hardware is Madison's closest hardware store with a wide selection in hardware, hand tools and sporting goods. Conveniently located just a few blocks from UW Madison. Isthmus Hardware has a parking lot with easy in and out access. Stopped in for light bulbs and what a tremendous selection they have at affordable prices. Pets are welcome as long as they are well behaved and on a leash.

I won't go anywhere else! I went in looking for brackets to hang a shelf. Jason got me the right hardware for the job and even wrote out directions on how to properly countersink the screws! Isthmus Hardware is a big city store with a small town feel.
