I really wanted to try this store and cafe because it’s for the people but we need to get it together! I did a little shopping before grabbing my food and ALL the registers were closed, the "cashiers" were all talking and I was walking around looking for checkout. Finally after checkout, I went to the cafe and the line was okay but we still had to wait 20-30 mins because they weren’t as prepared for lunch like they needed to be. When I finally got to the front, they told me it was a 15-20 min wait on fresh fish, chicken, wedges, pork chops and several sides so I just ended up ordering a side of spaghetti & pork chop dinner….. unseasoned, overcooked, salty, burnt and cold the only thing that really saved it was the cabbage but it wasn’t enough to make up for the $35 I spent in there. I didn’t enjoy my experience but I like the idea of making our community more self reliant….just need to tweak a few things to match the asking price of both the store and cafe

I've been there twice. Both times,I was followed and accosted by the police. I guess they're not used to white people trying to buy groceries. NEVER will I step foot in that nasty store again. Go to Food Lion

The fish was good, sides could have been better

I have life in Berkley all my life and this is my home. I have only shopped at the market a handful of times and up until today I had no problem with the store. I don’t want to accuse anyone of being dishonest but if you pickup food items to purchase using your EBT card and you get to customer service to be rung up and not only does the young lady charge the EBT card but they charge you $5 dollars for 4 food items something is wrong. I know for a fact that people come in all the time using EBT and they know you don’t pay out of pocket for food items if you’re using EBT. And it wasn’t a mistake. I just hope she hasn’t done this to anyone else. The store did correct the situation but that young lady needs to be spoken to.

I LOVE THIS PLACE FOOD IS ALWAYS ON POINT THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE KOOL-AID ON POINT THE ONLY BAD THING I HAVE TO SAY IS JUST CHANGE THE GREASE CAUSE I COULD TASTE THE BURNT GREASE ON THE CHICKEN THATS MY ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT OTHER THAN THAT FOOD IS DELICIOUS MAGNIFICENT

I had the Whiting dinner. The dinner was on POINT! I tasted the canned yam. It tasted like my GRANDMA'S. Please keep up the great work!

I was just in there yesterday and got the Pig feet dinner. THAT WAS THE BEST PIG FEET IV EVER HAD!!! And the lady FEED me good!!!! I know I had at least 3BIG tender, flavorful, quality meaty pig feet!! And I tried the pig feet because the guy behind me in line said how good they were. AND HE WAS RIGHT!! OUTSTANDING JOB ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
