We used Planes for a family move yesterday. The crew worked hard and efficiently as a team. They took the time on both ends to walk the houses and understand details of the move. They connected on a personal level and made an 8 year old girl feel very special in how they moved her room and belongings. They agreed to work late to get things done in one day because of possible rain on the second day of the move. I can not say enough about how professional and friendly the team was. A wonderful experience.

My moving crew from Planes Moving and Storage could only be described as an "Elite Moving Group." From my moving coordinator, Amanda, the salesman, Jeff L., and the crew, Daniel C., Brett H., Shawn R., and Eli R. it was top-notch all the way. This was a major downsize into a very tight retirement community. The move was seamless in every way. The Planes Moving and storage employees were professional, efficient, clean, respectful of our property and belongings, and stayed in contact with us through the entire move. It was a pleasure working with this company. As a very satisfied customer, I highly recommend their service.

A very uneventful move. Everything went very smoothly. Our driver was great! His name is Morgan, definitely ask for him to be your driver.

In May, Planes delivered a damaged custom iron bed to our home. My husband documented everything and the driver was aware, yet the photos their driver took did not reflect the damage and the company I got the frame from refused to replace the damaged frame. I talked to several people at Planes, including Scott Roger’s in claims and they did nothing. I did receive documentation from their accounting department which showed damaged but JB Hunt said Planes altered the documents. Since the drivers original paperwork mysteriously disappeared and his photos were done so to not reflect the damage, it appears that their practices are unethical and it will cost me over $1000 to replace the bed frame which was obviously damaged by a forklift. Planes was the final mile deliverer for JB Hunt so I did not have a choice.

This is being written three weeks after the horrible move. I used Planes moving and Storage to move from Cincinnati a year ago. That move was smooth, it took six hours, I had the packing done I was charged around $6500. NOW, moving back from Chicago to Cincinnati a year later was a NIGHTMARE! As far as the amount, or weight difference it was the less furniture and less boxes. I packeted everything but the kitchen. I had asked for packing, but I ended up packing everything. My charge was $8600 +.- . This review isn't about the money! It’s about the lack of coordination and teamwork there was out of the head office for my move. On Friday, late afternoon 4:30 p.m to be exact I am calling the head office in Cincinnati to find out what time on Monday the movers were coming. Another red flag! I had this move on the books for six weeks. They show up on time and then proceed to tell me that they had to load the truck and then my things were to be unloaded into another truck to go to Cincinnati. Things they don't tell you, and all I could think was breakage and loss. My queen mattress was not loaded until 2;30 that afternoon, I had asked what time they would be finished and I was told 4:30 at the latest. The lead guy was on his headphones 90% of the time planning a get together. He came with a 17 year-old ( not legal for moving) not trained, nice, but totally lost. He was assigned my bedroom. He threw heavy things into the bottom of the Wardrobes then piled my clothes on top. Minor issues, but that was one man down for sure. The other body that came was a very hard worker who packed my artwork and seemed to be the only one moving heavy stacked boxes on a dolley. He spoke very little English which should me they weren't a team and that this had been thrown together at the last minute. I never saw the "lead" guy move much or pack much after he was finished with may kitchen. I had a 100 year old gold inlayed 5ft x 3ft mirror that was to be crated, it was not. I also had. two 3x3ft stained-glass windows to be crated and were not. I have not unwrapped them, yet in fear of finding them cracked. Remember the move was from the exact place where my things were delivered, in 6.5 hours, and at at 8.5 hours into this move I had left my place due to the unreal chaos and lack of organization in loading the truck! I actually told them to burn everything. Most stressful move ever all because of this company out of Chicago, but as I said before was orchestrated out of the home office. The one really great hard worker barely spoke English, the "lead" was on his headset and then there was the 17 year old walking around without direction. I should have known and made a phone call at that point. I was met in Cincinnati, by a fabulous TEAM, lead by Dave and his two guys. I was so thankful! Then the boxes started to come in, I was told the boxes would be marked after packed ...not a one that was understood. I have 5-6 , 3x4 large boxes packed so heavy that I was unable to move them for me to unpack. The only marking was kitchen! Not a note to which box had dishes, pots and pans, or glasses absolutely NOTHING! Dave and his team worked hard and had to walk a lot farther than the grouping in Chicago. More boxes came in with little notes written by ? that once unpacked was not at all the items. My things in my kitchen were broken, once I finally found my coffee pot days later, it was at the bottom of a box that had pots and pans tossed on top of it..broken coffee pot . I replaced it but was told I needed to do this and that. I tell you what I am so over the Planes Moving and Storage I want nothing to do with them. Super stressed out trying to find my kitchen supplies that I called them often to complain and vent. THEY DO NOT CARE DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE!

Everything about our move was flawless! The team was a group of hard working guys who seemed to really care about making things go smooth. We’ve been unpacking boxes for 2 weeks and have not found anything broken. Cost was within $300 of their estimate, which was remarkable and appreciated. I’ve heard horror stories of movers estimating too low and surprising people at the end. That did not happen here. I would definitely use Planes again - especially if we could get this crew!

In conjunction with a kitchen remodel, my husband and I refinished our home’s hardwood floors. We rented a storage pod from Planes. My primary point of contact at Planes was Alisha Harmon, Senior Move Consultant. For the pod rental, I gave a very detailed itemization of the items to be stored. On Monday, April 28, 2025, Ben from Planes delivered the pod. To insure that the pod would be ready for the furniture movers, late that day I tried to open the lock on the pod and it was stuck so Ben had to return to open and fix the jammed lock. On Friday, May 2, the Planes movers moved the house items to the pod. They did an excellent job, so much so that I requested if possible that the same movers be scheduled for the return to move the furniture back in the house. During the move to the pod, the movers discovered the pod was too small for all the items so they had to put several items in the basement, which increased their anticipated moving time. The movers were also unaware of the piano to be moved, which was on the original list provided to Planes, and also increased their anticipated moving time. The movers expressed concerns about the pod size, the broken lock, and poor communication between the schedulers and the movers. On Sunday, May 4, a very rainy day, we opened the pod to discover it was leaking water. We placed multiple towels around the outside of the pod and hoped for the best that the water would not continue to flow inside and the furniture would not be damaged. Monday through Friday, May 5-9, the floors were refinished. On Thursday, May 8, I received an email invoice from Tracy Pate at Planes for an additional $119.73 for additional move time incurred. I had never previously communicated with Ms. Pate and responded by email inquiring what the charge was for. I also detailed all the previous problems with Planes’ scheduling. Alisha called me and said she would speak with Billing and get back to me. On Monday, May 19, the movers returned the furniture from the pod and the basement to its original locations. They again did an excellent job. I paid all invoices for the pod and the original move estimate on receipt and in full. On Tuesday, May 20, Alisha called to inform me that the pod would be picked up on Friday, May 23. She stated I still owed $119.73 and asked me if I wanted to give her a credit card number or pay on line. I reminded Alisha of our last conversation where she said she would check with Billing about the charge. She replied she had spoken with Billing and "they were holding firm." I replied that Planes was ridiculous to ask for an additional $120 on a $2,000 project considering all the issues of: -the initial Planes contact person was fired a week after our project was scheduled; -the pod would not open and Ben had to return to fix it; -the pod leaked and we had to protect its interior with towels; -the pod was too small and the movers had to incur additional move time by maneuvering the pod contents and moving excess items to the basement; -the movers were unaware of the piano to be moved despite the piano being on the items list provided to the scheduler, resulting in additional move time. I stated I would not pay the $119.73. Alisha suggested that a supervisor contact me and I told her I would appreciate that. I never received a call from a supervisor. On my bank statement dated September 12, 2025, I received a charge from Planes dated September 11, 2025 for $119.73. Sadly, this is my first negative review of a company.
