Golden Bear Heating & Air

We had a wonderful experience with Golden Bear on a large project - replacing our old HVAC system with a heat pump, new ducts, asbestos removal etc. The owner, TK, is amazing to work with and told us about various rebates available through SJCE, TechClean etc. There were some hiccups in asbestos removal (through a sub-contractor) but TK owned it well and got a different sub-contractor to finish the job to our satisfaction. Overall, we can't recommend them enough! The entire crew was pleasant to deal with and they finished the work on time and within budget.

We had a great experience working with Golden Bear Heating and can't recommend them enough. From the very first visit, Tamim (the owner) impressed us with his professionalism, honesty, and thoughtful recommendations. His bid came in as the most competitive, and yet the quality of service far exceeded our expectations. What really made the experience exceptional was how flexible and accommodating they were. We had a number of changes and requests during the project, and not once did they make us feel like it was a hassle--or ask for more money. Everything was handled with patience and professionalism. A big shoutout to Angelo, the site supervisor, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. He kept things running smoothly, communicated clearly, and made sure every detail was taken care of. You can tell they take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. It's rare to find a company this easy to work with. We're so glad we chose Golden Bear and would absolutely work with them again.

Had an issue with my AC not blowing cold air. Got one quote from one company and was told my AC compressor was no good! I was referred to Tk from Golden Bear Heating & Air. Tk was able to get a technician out to my house the next day! The next day the technician showed up and was able to diagnose the problem within 10min! Come to find out the AC coils and blower were plugged up!! Can't say enough about Golden Bear Heating & Air a reliable, dependable and HONEST company!!! So if you want a reliable dependable and HONEST company for all your AC and heating needs give Golden Bear Heating & Air a call!!!

Very happy with this company and highly recommend. TK the owner is super, responsive, no hard sell, and his crew of Pablo and Francisco and others did a fabulous job installing a new furnace and AC. Very professional, on time, good clean up during and after, courteous and respectful. Price was very fair. I carefully chose this company after acquiring 4 other bids. Highly recommend.

TL;DR: Golden Bear is awesome. T.K is extremely nice and a pleasure to work with. His crew is very professional and did the job superbly. 5 stars and would recommend Golden Bear to anyone for their HVAC needs. Longer more detailed review: We bought our first house in Nov 2019 a little before the pandemic forced us to work from home. Our house didn't have a centralized AC, but as new house owners strapped for cash we decided to brave the California Summer thinking it might be ok. Heat wave after heat wave last summer, forced us to reconsider the decision and opt for installing the AC before this summer started. Enter T.K and Golden Bear -- I reached out to Golden Bear since it had awesome reviews on Yelp. TK accommodated my estimate request on short notice despite having a busy schedule, came over and spent close to 45 mins assessing the infrastructure in place, and went over the necessary work to be done. He explained everything patiently, answered all my questions, even opened up one of our vents in the Living room since I complained that something was wrong with it to see if his guys would be able to fix it. None of the other people I got quotes from did that. He eventually sent over a pretty competitive quote the next day. After a little negotiation, we finalized Golden Bear to install the AC and get our furnace upgraded as well to account for extra space in the living room that was previously unaccounted for when the furnace was installed 12 years ago. I signed the contract, sent it back, and was immediately confirmed that the installation would happen 4 days later. T.K confirmed that he'll assign an extra guy to the job so that it can get done in 1 day. The guys who came over to do the installation -- Angelo, Pablo, and Mario were super nice -- wore masks, laid protective tarps over our floors, wore shoe coverings, and did the job very professionally. They arrived at 9 AM and were done by 4.30 PM. Angelo ran point on the installation, asked me for clarifications on certain decisions, and explained it to me if I needed more help understanding each choice. After the installation, Angelo walked me through all the work that was done in great detail, gave me all the documents for the new equipment, and even showed me some basic operations on the new thermostat installed. Overall I highly recommend Golden Bear for your HVAC installations. We are extremely happy with our decision 🙂

Tamim's technician came in to repair an a/c after entire issue was discussed over the phone. The technician diagnosed the issue might be resolved by a hard start kit but he didn't have it, so he had to come back. Golden bear charged me for both visits because their technician was not carrying a very common part ($100 each visit instead of $140). After two visits, the technician said a/c cannot be repaired and should be replaced for which I was given a quote of ~$9k. I asked my old a/c technician for another replacement quote. He asked why are you replacing, checked the fuse which was damaged and a/c was up and running in 15 mins. The low rating is not for things till now. It is because when I reached out to Tamim, explained the situation and asked him to rectify it - he did nothing after almost 4 weeks, 6-7 emails and a phone call. He 'chose' to not make it right, every single time making an excuse that he didn't get the time for over 4 weeks to basically rectify such a wrong experience for a customer. It doesn’t look like a honest mistake anymore.
