My recommendation is to look at all other installers and make sure length of time in business and post warranty customer support is adequate for your needs. Next is my experience. Blue Raven has installed two solar panel systems for me, one on my prior home which we ended up selling about nine months after the install and the second system installed on our current home about three years ago. Both installs were great. Can't say anything more. We had a panel on our current home that stopped producing and it turned out to be a pinched wire. Unfortunately, the tech replaced the wrong panel and then broke it trying to reinstall it. I guess this model of panel wasn't available anymore and so a different looking panel was installed. Now, since our labor warranty has expired, I'm struggling with the $780 Blue Raven wants to charge me to come out and install an cellular antenna because for some reason, our exterior panel doesn't want to connect to our wifi. $780! I'm also bugged that I can't call Blue Raven to ask questions. You can only contact a call center if you want to talk to someone and they have no technical info. I understand a lot of people aren't very handy. I'm a pretty handy guy. You open the case, install what is basically a computer card with an antenna, shut the case and do a bit of programming. A remote wifi antenna can be installed as well, according to Enphase, which I think would be cheaper. There's a USB port on the back of the case so just plug and play but, apparently, this option isn't available. I just want to talk to someone at Blue Raven and not a call center. I can't even contact them let them know how I feel and to see if we can work something out. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox. Maybe Blue Raven isn't any different than any other installer.
I have had a negative experience with Blue Raven Solar. Promises of energy production and cost savings were not accurate. I was told that my system was more than enough to cover my monthly energy cost. There has maybe been one or two months where it did, but most of the time I am still paying for overage. I have not been using more energy than when quoted, either. Also, I was not informed that in order for your system to be truly effective, you need batteries. However, batteries cost just as much as the panels. I could buy a lot of electricity from the city for 60K. Lastly, I just had an issue with one of the panels. They charged me almost $400 for a site visit, just to tell me that they didn't have the part to fix it, and then want to charge me another $470 or so to have them come back to fix it when the part gets here. They also want this money up front before the job is completed. I feel that their customer service has been crap, and they don't care about the customer. When trying to inquire about my concerns, I was put on hold for 20 minutes just for them to tell me that the manager was not available. Also, to put some context. My panels are only about 2 years old. Pretty early to already have issues, and of course, it is just outside of their warranty window. My advice!! DON'T BUY SOLAR. It will not save you money.
They wanted to charge me $400 just to come out to my house. We have been having a problem with our microinverters not reporting and was told by Enphase that it looks to be a problem with the wiring from what they could see on their end remotely and that we would need to contact our installer (Blue Raven). When I asked why is it $400 just to come to my house I was told "That’s just how much it is" no real explanation.
I set up two appointments, no show on both. The representative I was supposed to meet with did call me about an hour and a half after the first scheduled meeting to tell me that he couldn't make it then couldn't make the same day time those agreed upon. Missed the second appointment and claimed that he thought it was arranged for the following week. After requesting a new representative and getting a response that one was available I've not gotten any response several days later. Not the introduction that I'm looking for with a company that I would be willing to spend thousands of dollars with. Just my experience
Started installation process beginning July was given estimated windows. Knowing that a lot of processes would take time I let most of it just run its course. About two months later I was the one who had to reach out to get a status update and still couldn’t get a proper update. After getting the run around I was told it would be another week or so. After that date passed I still didn’t hear back. Early that following week I got a message that was oh, by the way your permit and everything ready and we have an installation open tomorrow. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me and had to wait another month for an available time to open up. Day of installation was pretty smooth tech’s nice and help. After some struggles overall I wish the commutation was better but am happy with the installation. Hopefully they actually reach back out when batteries are no longer on back order and I can get some backup installed.
after two years my solar is great. I can't complain.. my last gas and electric bill was less than $35. that was June and hot.. but my reporting company can't receive the daily data..I've tried to contact Blue Raven.. talked to people but have had no help.. nothing from the reporting company other than we don't see your solar production.. we paid up front so I guess it's on me.. maybe if we leased they would care more... again I'm more than happy with the product and the installation. . it's the after sales and not caring that I'm giving the one star rating for... maybe I can get attention.. not just lip service
Blue Raven has been in contact from the very beginning and have been excellant to work with. The installation crew showed up yesterday as scheduled. They were efficient, friendly and courteous. They cleaned up after themselves and left nothing wanting from me.Waiting inspection now but looking forward to the benefits of having a solar system in place. I'd reccommend using Blue Raven Solar to anyone thinking about going solar.
