Aimee is probably wondering where this review is. Especially since I wrote this 9 months ago. The bottom line is I was waiting for the one year anniversary of our system so I could properly analyze the performance of the system. At one year we produced 14.2(-ish)MWh, from a system that was designed for 12.4(-ish)MWh performance after 25 years. The "overproduction" is also in part due to moving some panels from west to south facing. Running the numbers, it is exactly what should have been produced. The actual consumption was a good bit lower than the design for a couple of reasons. First, we replaced our roof as "part" of the solar installation. This actually reduced our heating and cooling needs, since our attic finally had ventilation. We also added an EV to our home, estimated at 3MWh, but we don’t really drive as much as "normal" people. Lastly, Solterra added a Span smart electric panel at our request, and I enjoyed turning off circuits remotely while we were away from home. The bottom line here is that we still have 4.4MWh of excess production. Even knocking 15% off the total at 25 years (higher than the 8% the REC panels specify), we will have over 2MWh to "burn." Looks like we are going to consider replacing the gas stove and tankless hot water heater with electric! Finally, I can’t say enough good things about the installation team. Super professional, and worked well with my roofer to route the wiring around the end of the roof and avoid penetrating the roof. We have even had them return to install the EV charging plug.
The SolTerra panels have been providing power to me and to the grid for about two weeks now! I like how clean the system looks on the roof and the side of the house. Kevin from SolTerra was very professional and explained everything to my satisfaction, and he was also able to answer all my questions. I would recommend them to anyone interested in providing solar power to their residence.
Kevin and the crew were so amazing, from beginning to end. From the first phone call and consultation they were very upfront, and gave us realistic expectations and explanations. We had some weird financing stuff going on due to some kitchen damage, and they were willing to work with us to make sure the project got started sooner rather than later. Paige answered a myriad of questions during the licensing and permitting times, with responses so prompt that issues were resolved often within the hour. It was truly a pleasure to work with her! Tim B. was punctual and communicated every step of the way during install. Tacoma power tossed us a surprise or two, and even though SolTerra was just as surprised as us, they made a point to continue reaching out to us to make sure we were satisfied. I think it was Chom who was here for the install itself, but I'll admit I was busy with the kids for a lot of it. They were so kind and considerate, I really am truly satisfied. You can see in the photo's I've included a 'in progress' and 'finished' photo of the 2 roofs we had done-sorry to whoever was up there, didn't mean to take a photo of your rump! I've also included screenshots of the cool apps (that Kevin made sure I was all set up with) for both the production and distribution of power, as well as status monitoring of the panels themselves. I have every confidence that this is going to give our family the security we need, for years to come. They warrantees SolTerra offers is so much better than any of the other companies I got estimates from, and they are listed as trusted by Tacoma Power. We work from home, and when the power goes out we have to find immediate childcare and commute over an hour away, or take the day off--paid or not. This way, we are no longer having to deal with that uncertainty! 10/10 do recommend.
SolTerra did a fantastic job with our solar installation. The entire process was a great experience - professional, clear and timely communications, great customer service. They provided lots of information and options regarding what they could offer us, and I'm very pleased we went with them. In addition they were super helpful with financing with a partnership with PSCCU. The panels were install ahead of schedule and have been working flawlessly. We are extremely happy with the results!
Highly recommended. First, we are extremely happy with the project design, installation, and finished product. Second, everyone that we worked with was a top notch professional. They communicated exceptionally well, were hard working, and delivered a high quality outcome.
Solterra made the process of adding solar to our home very easy. They provided us with all the information we needed and got us up and running as quick as they (and the City) could make it happen. We are very excited about this new upgrade to our home and in the future, not having an electric bill! I wouldn't hesitate giving them a call and seeing if it's right for your situation. Many thanks to the Solterra team!
We highly recommend Solterra! We recently built a garage with a roof designed specifically for solar. After interviewing six companies, we chose Solterra because they are a small, locally-owned business; because their price was competitive; because they had the best warranty; and because everyone we met really really knows what they're doing. Kendall and Paige are great; more than once Solterra's schedule had to change to accommodate the other contractors on our project and they were a breeze to work with. Every person who showed up to install every aspect (electrical, actual installation, fire compliance, etc.) was highly professional and clearly enjoying their career. And surprise! After our signed contract (yet well before installation), the panels we had chosen had a price drop, and Solterra passed the savings on to us. Unheard of; thanks Solterra! Our installation has been online for a week now, and even on a cloudy November day in the Pacific Northwest we love seeing those panels make energy from the light they get. So happy we did this; so glad we chose Solterra!
