Unprofessional; do not hire South Coast Greenlight contractor for your solar or geothermal. Several years ago my wife and I hired South Coast Greenlight to install a geothermal system in our newly built home in Jamestown, RI. When we later decided to also install solar panels, I sought out 3-4 estimates from local, reputable solar companies including South Coast Greenlight. At that time, we learned that besides receiving a federal tax credit, there would be an additional $5000 REF grant available from the state of Rhode Island for installing solar. When we reached out to them, South Coast Greenlight declined our request for help in securing the grant. The following is South Coast Greenlight’s response to our request: " I wanted to point out that I omitted the REF Grant. There are at least 2 extra inspections, additional engineering, and lots of added "red-tape" which leads to high administration costs on our end." After weighing the pros and cons balanced with the estimates from each provider, we decided to go with a company who happily assisted us in filing for the grant. I politely declined South Coast Greenlight’s estimate, (explaining via email the differences in solar system size, price and the fact that we were determined to apply for the grant which they were unwilling to help us with). Gary Cyr, the owner, called me back immediately rudely demanding that I should use his company because he wanted to put my home on his website as a net zero home having his company potentially do both solar and geothermal installations. I calmly explained to Gary my logic for choosing another company and was received with open and unprofessional hostility; he abruptly hung up the phone during our exchange. As it turned out, we enlisted the help of Sunwatt Solar, a reputable local solar company to install our solar system; the application process was smooth and simple and we received the $5000 grant without problems. Sunwatt Solar used the same quality components and microinverters as SCG. They were helpful, consistent and professional. In addition to my own experience, a Google customer review reveals that South Coast Greenlight’s owner, Gary Cyr, "[he] flies off the handle" when anyone questions Gary’s estimates, suggesting a pattern of hostile behavior. Happenstance that some months ago our Geothermal system, (installed by South Coast Greenlight) malfunctioned, requiring service. I left voicemails, emailed and directly texted the installer at South Coast Greenlight but my repeated attempts to communicate went ignored. The inaction of South Coast Greenlight demonstrates unprofessionalism as well as a mean-spirited spitefulness. I then called Superior Comfort and Comfort Zone, -both were willing to come out and mitigate even though they were not the ones that installed the Geothermal Heat Pump. Both companies were courteous, responsive and professional. I highly recommend Superior Comfort and Comfort Zone for geothermal, and Sunwatt for solar as they are knowledgeable professionals who do not confuse professionalism with personal, emotional fragility.

I had a fantastic experience working with Sal and the team at Southcoast Greenlight. From start to finish, they were professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Sal took the time to explain every detail of the solar installation process and made sure I was comfortable with all decisions. The installation was smooth, and the system is working flawlessly. I highly recommend Southcoast Greenlight to anyone considering solar energy. Great service and a great team!

Southcoast Greenlight Energy did a fantastic job with the installation of my geothermal system retrofit. My house didn't have any ductwork prior so they had to do a complete install of the geo and HVAC equipment. The crew was great to work with, respectful, and accommodated all my requests. The work was very neatly installed and I have zero complaints on the quality of the install. At the time of this review I have owned my system for about 1 year and I am very happy with the performance of the system and the cost savings. I highly recommend Southcoast to anyone considering the technology.

I highly recommend Southcoast Greenlight. Gary Cyr is extremely knowledgeable and great to work with. I looked at several companies before deciding on Southcoast Greenlight. They had the best offer, the most experience, and the best reputation. Gap Mountain Drilling out of NH did the drilling (also the best around) and Southcoast Greenlight installed the geothermal Climate Master system. Jon Cyr and Tim Tait installed the system quickly and efficiently in one week (ductwork already in place). They really know the system and did a fantastic job; both also great to work with. Jon is particularly knowledgeable in all aspects of the install and maintenance. These systems are not cheap, but save over the long run, and the incentives now make these systems cost competitive. They are extremely efficient and quiet; our new system is quieter than our dehumidifier. No outside compressor so the system will last much longer, and I like the idea of drawing heating or cooling from the constant ground temperature in lieu of directly burning fossil fuels. The best heat pumps have efficiency ratings in the high 90's%. Geothermal systems like this one have efficiency ratings in the 300-400% range; hence the long-term savings. I recommend geothermal and would highly recommend Southcoast Greenlight. They are, in my opinion, the best out there.

Southcoast Greenlight installed my closed loop geothermal system several years ago. Gary was very knowledgeable, responsive and professional throughout the design and installation. He also personally oversaw the installation. Since the installation, the system has been relatively maintenance free with the exception of a capacitor which has failed twice. Both times, Gary was responsive to the component failure and the system was made operational under warranty. I would definitely recommend Southcoast Greenlight Energy as a company and Gary Cyr as an excellent representative.

My husband and I have been in our new home in Jamestown for almost one year and we could not be happier with our geothermal and solar systems that Southcoast Greenlight installed for us. Throughout a very complex build project, Gary and his crew were professional, and responsive. They coordinated seamlessly with the other subcontractors and helped to move the project along. Since our move in, they have been available to answer any questions and make any necessary adjustments to our system to keep it running efficiently. We would highly recommend them!

Southcoast Greenlight installed geothermal and solar systems for our new construction. They gave us good advice throughout the process, did good quality work, and followed up in a timely fashion on unresolved issues. They recently added a second solar system on our garage to boost our energy production. We are very happy with the results.
