Tall Ship Providence

Ahoy matey! What an enjoyable experience during our Potomac River cruise on the Tall Ship Providence this afternoon! First, there's parking available nearby for about $20/day and just a minute walk from the ship. Restrooms are available on the dock and they were clean. There's a dock bar with plenty of seats as well. The boat has a bar and restroom, although we didn't use either I saw other guests using them so I assumed they're perfectly fine. We had tickets purchased in advance and arrived about 30 minutes before the sail. The crew were fantastic. Polite, professional and provided an educational opportunity within a casual, fun environment while keeping safety a priority. Each member we interacted with was kind and wanted to talk with us, not once did we feel uncomfortable or a burden. Additionally, we enjoyed chatting with other guests throughout the excursion. Phil, who led our historical tours, is amazing. He was full of knowledge and appreciated questions. Phil explained the real ship's history, the replica's journey, the historical crew's days working on board, and many enjoyable facts. We left with a genuine appreciation for the ship. The sail adventure was about 2 hours. At times we felt the motion from another boat's wake however it was never especially choppy. Those who get motion sickness easily may want to take something ahead of time to avoid feeling ill, however I was able to breathe through my sickness without getting too ill. If you're interested in history while seeking a different adventure, definitely check out the Tall Ship Providence! You'll feel safe, learn a lot and have a sincerely pleasant experience. The ship is beautiful and the trip is funny. But is really not deserve 55$, spend two hours on the river, here’s no enough seats and shade place, explore under the sunshine almost two hours. Is not have many "history" about this ship can share with you, but the crew is super nice and professional, they will let you explore the tail and lower level of the ship. The restroom on the ship is broke, so make sure you use the restroom before you boarding. However, I still not recommend you pay for this if you want a fun, quick tour on the river, maybe water taxi is a better choice.

The pier bar has a floating rock, nice music and a relaxed vibe. Didn’t even tour the ship which is quite small. Totally recommend the bar! Great view of the river as well with the capital in the distance

Wonderful experience on a tour of this replica of a ship that fought in the Revolutionary War in the 1770s. Friendly crew in a most scenic setting. The bar at the pier is great too. The servers are actually also the tour guides.

The crew was fun and informative. It was interesting to watch them work the lines and sail under wind power. Cruise was about 2 hours on the Potamac. There was a cash bar on the ship, and parking nearby was easy to find. Great experience; would definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

Oh my! Last Sunday, my family took a ride on Tallship Providence! It was my son‘s sixth birthday and he wanted to do something different. We had such a lovely time! The crew was accommodating and kind and full of information. I would definitely recommend us if you’re down in the old town area and want to try something different. They serve snacks and drinkson the boat. No restrooms provided on board.

Wonderful experience sailing on a sunset tour with The Providence on 7/22/2023. Beautiful evening on the Potomac River. Passionate and experienced crew made the sunset cruise a fun adventure. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys history and being on the water in this gorgeous location where it’s easy to spot the Capitol and Washington Monuments from the water. Dining and shopping options are endless and The Providence is conveniently located at the docs close to parking (but arrive early to secure a spot since the lots full up quickly on weekends.)
