FlatRate Moving

Recently, I chose Flatrate for my local move out of my apartment because they did a great job moving me into the apartment 10 years ago. Unfortunately, my moving experience was less satisfying this time. 10 years ago, I appreciated Flatrate’s use of small and medium size boxes. It made unpacking very manageable. Review of last week’s move: 1) The moving team arrived promptly. 2) The workmen were nice, polite, hardworking, and helpful. 3) The moving day manager came in to my apartment, introduced himself, looked around and then immediately told me what $$ tip he and his guys expected! He said he expected we would be done packing up the apartment by 12:30 pm. Then at 12:30 pm when the packing up was not complete, he tells me that it’s the fault of me and the Flatrate planner for underestimating the amount of things in the apartment AND the tip will need to be commensurately bigger! This just seemed to be a way to bump up the tip. 4) My biggest concern was that almost all of boxes this time were medium or large sized. With this move, the boxes are too heavy for me to move alone. 5) The workmen filled the boxes with many different types of things without detailed labels. 6) I got two storage lockers and they filled one completely while the other is nearly empty. I asked them to distribute the boxes between the lockers but did not get a response. Would I use Flatrate again for a move? Yes, but with more caution.

Quick update: i got a call from the VP of this company and he was very apologetic about his employees rudeness over the phone and tried to make it better, but it was to late at that moment because i have already booked another company...so kudos to the VP for trying to rectify the situation...ORIGINAL REVIEW:just called to try to get an estimate and I mentioned to the lady I dont feel comfortable with providing my email because I didn't want to be bombarded with email just in case I choose not to use them and asked if they can just text me the quote, and she just straight up told me since I dont want to give my email, very rudely stated that I can THEN JUST USE SOMEBODY ELSE. I saw the reviews and it appears as if there customer service went directly out the window and that there feeling themselves at point. First Impression

In the process of planning of planning an international move from NY to France, I got quotes from a lot of different moving companies. I chose FlatRate Movers because they were by far the most professional and economical. Dejon Reid (Vice President of Sales) and the actual movers went above and beyond to make me happy despite all the curve balls I threw their way.

I had an excellent experience with Flat Rate Movers, especially the team led by Luis Rivera. They were punctual, arriving right on time, and packed and moved my 2-bedroom apartment with great care and efficiency. What I appreciated most was how they organized everything in the associated rooms in my new place, which made the unpacking process so much easier. They worked quickly and finished well ahead of schedule without compromising on quality. I highly recommend this team for anyone looking for a stress-free, organized move!

I moved from Jersey City to Edgewater/Cliffside park area in March 2024. FlatRate did a EXCEPTIONAL job!!! Their people were professional and polite from start to finish. They nicely accommodated our on the fly request. I hired FlatRate Moving for a PACK and SHIP of a 4BR/3Bath (4 level) brownstone home. They came on a Monday to pack and returned the next day (Tuesday) to ship. Same crew both days. The team lead Daniel was excellent! He was super organized, in command of his team, friendly and patient. His team clearly liked him a lot too. They finished both days of packing and shipping early than his estimate. They finished each day by 5pm. Their pricing was the best after getting 3 quotes. I will use FlatRate for all my local moving going forward.

Everything was exceptional except the final delivery. The driver feared he would get stuck on snow-covered alley way, despite the fact multiple 18-wheelers make daily deliveries. So I had to pay an extra $160 for the driver to deliver from a block away.

I do not recommend! They broke some of my stuff (a lamp), scratched the floor significantly, and lost a bunch of my stuff. The value of what was lost was probably around $700, and I am only getting reimbursed for $200. Three months later and I still do not get the reimbursement. I don't even get an answer about it. Matt Ockers, my contact there, and some of the movers were great, but I would not pick them again in a million years!
