I've been here quite a few times recently. It's a hit or miss whether or not you're going to get help from the employees. Every once in a while, you get a decent employee who's willing to help you. But most of the time, when you go in there, you get grumpy workers who don't want to lift a finger to do their job. So I go prepared to have to beg for help or do everything myself. I will give them credit, though they do have a huge variety of products in the store. That's what keeps me coming.

I received incredible customer service from Aaron in the Print Center! I messed up my online print order and he helped me resize and reprint my mistake. Thank you so much!!

Unethical practices at this location! I ordered several air filters for in-store pickup but never received an email indicating they were available for pickup. I called the West Madison location two weeks later only to find they updated the order status as Picked Up, but returned the air filters back to the store shelves. I spoke with the store manager over the phone, who claimed it was an honest mistake, but the store wouldn't refund me and said I had to call the 800 number to dispute and get the refund myself. What a joke. OfficeMax probably gets away with these tactics with large institutions who don't verify bulk orders and supplies, but don't try to pull this stunt on individuals. It was definitely not an honest mistake. They may have an antiquated inventory system, but if you modify an order status as picked up, you are obligated to be sure the customer was there to actually pick it up.

What I ordered and what I received for a custom print not the same. Description online does not make sense. Supervisor not willing to work with me on it and stated "most people know what their online stuff means" mind you no actual useful description. Had 3 simple sheets of paper printed and she wouldn't refund my order or have reorder done how I actually wanted it. Bad service helping customers.

The staff, Paul & Thea @ the WestTowne area OfficeDepot were SO helpful and kind assisting me the other day! So refreshing to be treated as a valued customer (these days’). They helped me not just in rectifying my problem but also in locating others. So nice and knowledgeable!

I find the store clean, quiet, and organized. The associates are helpful and show me exactly where the item is located that I inquire about. The check out associate is skilled in customer service and his job and makes checking out efficient and a good experience. I usually find the supplies I need at Office Depot over other retailers.

I have to reluctantly echo what others have said about this generally being a miserable place to shop. There are a couple outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly staff people, including one of the managers. But most of those working there including one of the managers, have customer service as their last priority, and unfortunately don't seem to know what they are doing. Whose fault is that? I guess a lack of proper training and selection of staff who actually like interacting with and helping customers. I have wasted much too much time because of staff not knowing what they are doing. Recently, what should have been a simple return turned into an aggravating and lengthy experience. I was able to return the same item within two minutes at another Office Depot. I would like to support the store, and the people who work there. But that would take some serious training and attitude reorientation. If you are lucky, though you will be treated well...Look for someone with a smile and eagerness to help... As I said there are such people at the store.
