Custom Electrical Services Des Moines

We hired Custom to do this job after they had installed a major electrical upgrade to our home. While there are electricians in the DSM area that charge a bit less than Custom, the quality and reliability of those companies fall far short. The current job involved installing Cat8 Ethernet lines to an upstairs office. The work was outstanding. There was one issue. Custom's materials supplier was quoting them $600 for a spool (640 feet) of Cat8 cable—an outrageous price by any standard. I was able to obtain the cable needed, 640 feet, for $182. The owners of Custom Electric need to reconsider their materials supplier seriously. This experience makes me question if the previous job's materials were at a similar extreme markup. The quality of Custom's work is the best I have ever seen. They are also experts at explaining what they are doing and why, so the customer is never in the shadows regarding the work. We will certainly hire them again for future electrical work while monitoring material sources. In reply to Custom's Owner's reply: We expect high-quality materials; however, you quoted us over $600 for the Cat8 cable, whereas we were able to obtain a very high-quality cable for $182 before tax, which is 650 feet of cable, with 90% of the reel remaining for future cable needs. I just suspect that your supplier is pricing excessively, which could cause a loss of business for you and a loss of activity for your employed electricians.

Very satisfied with the work from Custom Electrical. We had new siding installed in the front and outlets for lighting presented a bit of a challenge and Alec made it look perfect.

I was very pleased with my experience with Custom Electric. I was dreading having to call in a electrician after a recent power outage, having had so many negative experiences with a variety of home service technicians, and after being quoted so many outrageous prices. Danny G. arrived when he said he would, he was polite and conversant, he not only had the power restored within 5 minutes of arriving, he spent quite a bit of time showing me various electrical hazards in my home and offered options to correct them. Custom Electric clearly values customer service, and what's more, the price was much less than I had feared and definitely more than fair. I would recommend Custom others. Danny was great at explaining what electrical problems we had in a few spots in our home we recently moved into and was able to install an ethernet cable/jack the same day which was amazing since I thought we would need to schedule a separate appointment. He was very nice and patient with my toddler running around asking questions. Would highly recommend Danny and Custom Electrical Services!

Had a very positive experience with Blake. We needed two tasks completed to comply with the inspection of our home before closing. Blake arrived on time, he checked out the two minor issues, showed me an estimate of cost, and then quickly made the repairs. He took before and after photos to go with the paid invoice which we could send to the buyers, so they could see the work was completed. He was very polite and professional. We will use your business again if we need electrical work done in the future.

Very professional and reasonably priced. You know exactly how much you are paying before the project starts. There are no surprise costs. Jackson was very personable and knowledgeable. He went over and beyond to answer my questions and explain the best options for my project. Custom Electric just called YEARS later after they did work at my property demanding a $120 membership fee due to a 'significant' discount that was given ($1600) on electric work they did. When in fact, the membership fee was paid and (because of the membership fee) they wired my parents brand new build. Everything was under one account even though it was two separate addresses. They finely decided to 'waive' the $120 membership fee. Great customer service and way to do business. We went with Custom because a friend worked with the owner years ago, so word of mouth. But this place is nothing but corporate money hungry people that cannot get their records straight. Would not recommend.
