McCormick Heating & Cooling - Platteville

McCormick Heating & Cooling recently installed a new furnace and AC unit in our home, and overall we had a very positive experience. David and Angelo were the technicians who handled the installation, and they were fantastic from start to finish. David texted me first thing in the morning with his ETA and then walked me through what the day would look like, including how he and Angelo would divide the work. They were both extremely respectful of our home—wearing shoe covers, laying down protective sheets wherever they worked, and cleaning up thoroughly once the job was done. When the installation was complete, David and Angelo took the time to walk us through both new units, explain best practices, share maintenance recommendations, and answer every question we had. Their professionalism and attention to detail made the experience great. I’d give them a solid 5 stars without hesitation. The only reason I’m giving the company 4 stars overall is due to the communication issues between McCormick and our home warranty provider. There seemed to be confusion and a lack of ownership on both sides, which caused unnecessary delays. I eventually had to step in and push to get the installation scheduled. Once the work actually began, though, everything went smoothly thanks to David and Angelo. I’d absolutely recommend them as technicians and hope McCormick improves the communication side of the process in the future.

Overall positive experience, despite the issues as expressed below between McCormick and AHS (The home warranty). This was largely on the Home Warranty side, and some confusion on the McCormick side. However, they went above and beyond to answer all my questions, make me comfortable with my choices and even worked with me on what I might need specific to what I was looking for. Jason, David and Justin did the install. There were some hiccups, but they made to sure to make everything right in the end. Even took the time to walk and talk me through some of the technical things they were doing. Josiah even brought one of the installers out with him when the original inspection was done before looking at installs! Plus.. So far super happy with the Daikin Heat Pump I had installed. Working like a champ! Special shout out to Kay and Courtney for keeping up with my 1000's (at least it felt like it) questions before moving forward. And to the owner for being flexible and following up on things!

I contacted this company through my American Home Shield warranty for AC service. When I called on a Friday morning, they claimed no availability until Monday afternoon. However, the moment I mentioned I could pay a $250 after-hours fee, they suddenly had an opening that same day at 3 PM. This immediate change felt manipulative and profit-driven. The technician diagnosed a leak in my system and immediately recommended full replacement rather than repair, stating they would only replace, not fix. After several days of back-and-forth with the warranty company for pre-authorization, I received a quote requiring $4,400 out-of-pocket for just the evaporator coils and condenser unit. When I contacted my warranty company for clarification, I discovered the $4,400 was solely for "bringing things up to code"—the warranty was actually covering the cost of the new unit itself. This felt deceptive, as the company never clearly explained this breakdown. I sought second opinions from multiple local vendors, and every single one told me the pricing was drastically inflated and appeared designed to maximize profit at my expense. I have zero trust in this company's integrity or transparency. I ultimately hired a different contractor to complete the work properly. Not recommended.

Had a furnace replacement, old unit was over twenty five years old. Great service, good communication skills and tech skills from both David and Angelo. Quality work, excellent customer care and service.

McCormick has provided great technicians over the years. Most recently I had my air-conditioning serviced and my furnace as preventive maintenance. The technician was knowledgeable, professional, and gave me options to plan for as my system is aging. Consistently great service from this company thank you.

*Updated* After posting my review the company reached out to me and ended up getting someone out the next day. Josiah was very nice and answered all my questions, including some the next day that I thought of after he left. I did end up needing a new ac unit, which I was pretty sure before hand as well. But he walked me through all my options and was patient with my questions. The tech that installed it a couple weeks later, I'm sorry i forgot his name, was also very nice and professional. They came in the time window provided or communicated when they would be here. Overall good experience, just got out of the gate on a bad foot. Had been 1 star, updated to 4 stars. Only reason I did not give a five was the rough first impression. Original: No call no show! I had an appointment set and waited home the whole window and they never showed up. Approximately 30 minutes after the appointment window, I called them and they said they would figure it out and call me back. Never heard back from them and am out my $125 service fee. Would not recommend.

Do not use - I foolishly paid to have our AC tuned-up with American Home Shield, and was sent a "technician" from this company. He was unprofessional, pushy, and told me to replace our entire AC just because it was low on refrigerant. Never sent me any report fro the service, only a bid for replacement. They left our AC disconnect out afterwards, which prevented our AC unit from turning on. Very shady, beware!
