I have lived in my house for 4 1/2 years and in that time we’ve had 5-6 long lasting outages every year, and in the last 2 months alone have had 6. I’ve tried everything, I’ve emailed the Duquesne president, PUC, multiple elected officials and been in contact with the head person in the complaint department. They’ve basically told me that they don’t care and to just deal with it. This is the worst company that I’ve ever had to use, and the fact that they’re the only option leaves me feeling helpless, because they are apparently not held accountable to anyone but themselves. There needs to be a serious investigation into their ineptitude, because I refuse to believe that anyone can unintentionally be this awful at their job. I’ve lived in places with tornadoes, hurricanes and world famous rolling blackouts, and have never encountered anything close to this. The absolute worst company I’ve ever had to use and I hope their downfall comes soon.
I recently moved and come to find out DLC never cancelled my previous service. I paid 3 months of service at my previous rental that was not mine to pay, via auto pay and they refused to reimburse me for their error and put the blame on me. Customer Service and management requires a complete overhaul. They lack any kind of care or resolutions for paying customers. If I had another option I would immediately go to another service provider.
Happy to change this if I get a better understanding of the process, but it sucks to be threatened with termination notice after a relatively short period (days, not weeks) of forgetting about a bill. This works in the short term but alienates customers in the long term. This kind of practice-- and similar strategies-- account for the low ratings, here. Please connect me with someone who understands and cares about the customer relationship. A distribution monopoly can lock in your customer base, but there are ways this can drive the company further into disaster.
With their resources and unchecked power, no pun intended, they have no excuse to be this consistently terrible. Why is it ok that they are a monopoly?
I have tried to call every day for the month of September. Tried early morning. Tried afternoon. Tried evening. Every single time I get a, "3 hour waiting period" message. I have yet to speak to a single human. This is disastrously bad. I am trying to reach them regarding hidden non-descript fees in my bill that appeared out of nowhere. Will likely never know what they are and will likely never be able to even switch my service provider as NO ONE WILL ANSWER.
Worst monopoly. Did not realize when we moved to this area and honestly would have reconsidered the area knowing what we know now. Absolutely worthless, raise your rates and their profits, zero infrastructure improvement. Literally have power lines wrapped around tress branches. Customer service is non- existent.
Looking to move into the area and attempting to call to get pricing on average monthly bill rate for particular houses. For the directory saying this company is open 24/7 on their hours. I am taking that power is a self-service in Pittsburgh and free as I have tried multiple times reaching someone but noone answering the phones. [Also, auto message gives out multiple alternative numbers which noone picks up]. This is my official and legal notice on connecting my future property to the grid in effort to reaching the power company and have logged my calls to validate proof. Pittsburgh authorities need to crack down on utility companies. If you can't manage the work. To move aside and like business (or government) operate the service. There are thousands of National Guardsmen trained and needing the experience to tend to the power grid I'm sure governor have no issue sanctioning his National Guard under National emergency and security that they take full control over the power grid. Especially, seeing how Duquesne Light can't even manage to answer a phone.
